1st time i used it dex, so when yem won i thought get in, but what you do is insure your stake and take shorter odds, so yem was 12s on the off i got 7s
lodge was 6s on the off i took 10/3 if it won but got money back if it came 2nd or 3rd, so ,,,,,,,,,,,,, i dont know i didnt loose but didnt win as much i think

    live and learn my fried,
the more we know the less we understand

If it comes up softish in the Arc it will need something that stays 12f very well and that might suit SNA down to the ground. Given he has won over a mile in the soft/heavy as a 2yo and was beaten less than 4l by Makfi in the 2000Gns on fast ground he clearly has speed to match his stamina. Could be a very strong contender come October.

However if one can make a case for SNA on softish going then it is easy to also make a case for Nathaniel.

Nathaniel beat SNA on good to soft going over 12f and also beat Fiorente comfortably over 12f on good to soft. He was beaten by Treasure Beach over 12f at Chester but that was on fast going, on one of the tightest tracks in the country, and in a slow time (clearly a muddling race where form is of no value in assessing the chances on a flat galloping track on what could be softish ground). So what is Nathaniel like on soft ground? He has only encountered it once and that was as a 2yo over 8f when he was 0.5l behind Frankel. If it's testing at Longchamp he might well be there at the finish.

Sorry to put this up so early but I really think people should take some of the 4/1 about Maastricht in the 4.10 at Bath tomorrow. The key is the step up in trip for this horse and I can't believe that the bookies are offering a price as big as this. He is by Tiger Hill (sire of Rewilding) and he is a big influence for stamina, and this runner showed last time up that he looks a stayer in the making. He showed last time that he is one that could be tough to pass when he gets his conditions and on breeding 10 furlongs is exactly what he has been crying out for. His dam was a very talented 10 furlong horse and as noted his sire has better statistics over staying trips than he does over the mile or shorter.

I think most of the field have obvious stamina doubts and I think they will try and stretch the field from the off and 4/1 is very fair.

    get on.

I think you may be onto something there Nass, this looks very much like a horse who is handicapped at a distance that was never going to be his trip. Although there are a couple of others who could in theory improve now handicapped i agree that 4-1 looks about 1 1/2 to 2 points generous for that race. Thanks for pointing it out, i have just had a bet on it with Hills who still have the 4's and best odds.
