Just watched the Arc again and so frustrating - SYT covered the last 3 furlongs pretty much the same as the winner, was 6-8 lengths behind all the way. They weren't going breakneck early on, surely Heffernan could have got him closer during the first half of the race. The German lad to be fair has ridden a cracker, perfect position throughout and pushed the button at just the right time.
Not his finest moment Oddy..be amazed if Ryan Moore stays with Stoute next year. He's a young single man whose situation is flexible enough for him to ride in Ireland and over here. No brainer really as a career choice.Suspect there will be less tugging the old forelock at B'doyle as well.
John Ferguson who had a winner today is indeed the same chap who has been the bloodstock adviser for Godolphin. Nassau, the trainer to follow I noted was Tom Symonds (Mr Henderson’s former assistant). Very surprised that a great brain like yours forgot that name. He will almost certainly have his first runners this coming week by the way.
Following first lieutenant's opening gambit over the larger obstacles this very afternoon it got me thinking about the novice hurdle he won last year against Willie's hotpot superstar that never was Zaidpour. Hidden Cyclone was involved in the finish that day and if memory serves is trained by the Shark Hanlon. I can see this one doing brilliantly this year over fences and it wouldn't surprise to see him challenge for the Jewson.
