Cheers gents. Nicely done with Townend riding well again. Hope he has a good festival this year, really want him to join the top table.
Right guy's great start to the day for ya's, all the best with remaining bets. I'm off to watch the racing in the pub and sink a few pints for the afternoon/evening.
I wouldn't be shocked to see Ponte beaten in the next either, however I will not be betting against him as I hope he is as good as he looked.
I think there is an overreaction to Pontes victory last time out- he dictated as he liked, Don Cossack fell and to be honest he is unlikely to go to Cheltenham, so I don't think the form is amazing. I think Ponte is the rightful fav today but Noel Meade rates Ally Cascade as a smart novice and the step up in trip will suit him. The race didn't suit him last time against Jezki, but his stamina can count for more here so he would be my each-way alternative to the favourite. See if you can get anything juicy in the place market for him.
Not a bad idea, I have him as better than Sizing Gold, Seefood (good ground?) and Anonis so its just about fair the 2/1 for the place in my book.
Gents, a quick one in regards Oscar Whisky, what was the forums opinion on him staying the trip properly? He looked the winner for me before he met the last bit of rising ground. Did people think he was outstayed, outbattled or just beaten by a better horse?
That Pont Alexandre looks very good. I know what he would have done to At Fishers Cross yesterday. Nass outstayed on bad ground imo no chance is RDS a better horse than Oscar Whisky. One proper stayer on soft ground one horse that has star quality. On better ground over the same trip I would expect Oscar Whisky to win
Difficult to say in that ground Nass - could've been all 3. My immediate reaction was that he would reverse form with RDS on better ground but Dickie Johnson said the winner hated it too. If he were mine he'd be going to the CHampion Hurdle and nowhere near the World Hurdle. He is top class and his class kept him in it yesterday but 3 miles is not his trip for me. In the Champion Hurdle I would try and kick on with him from the top of the hill - he isn't exactly a slowcoach and it would take a very good one to pin him back. I just watched the replay of his run when 3rd to Hurricane Fly and he was going as well as anything coming off the final bend but couldn't quicken as well as HF or PC. If they were to kick on from the top of the hill, much like ROR and Overturn last year, he would have a storming chance IMHO.
Great shouts on here today lads. Toppy and Nass congrats. Great tipping. Murray was disappointing but I still make some money with the e/w so I'll not cry about it. Cheers for the input re my questions. Ron, I agree with that view of ante post. That's how I'm viewing it.
thanks for the input Oddy/RV, I think you are both about right, I thought it was a fair run in the ground but I still don't see him as wanting that trip at the festival. Some cracking racing yesterday, the noise when Imperial Commander was battling up the hill was as good as I have heard at HQ
World Hurdle then back to 2m4f at Aintree for Oscar Whisky. I'd make him 50/50 to reverse placings with Reve De Sivola at Cheltenham, and a cert for the Aintree Hurdle. He stayed the trip fine yesterday imo, but he's almost unbeatable at 2m4f.
Sounds like a cracking day Nass. I was pulling my hair out as I backed Imperial Commander and The New One, both getting nabbed in the shadow of the post, Had my biggest bet for ages on Reve De Sivola to get me out of the hole though Looks rough as arseholes at Leopardstown
Sam TD will learn a good deal by his ride on The New One, he went too early trying to make sure he forced Coneygree's hand. He forgot that it wasn't a two horse race!
Smooth, smooth, smooth. Like a well oiled machine. All roads lead to Cheltenham for The Fly, I think he will take all the beating this year.
Easy for Hurricane Fly. Mccoy didn't touch Binocular LOLLLL. Not that it would have mattered anyways but still cheating crook
