The last race at Market Rasen is interesting.

It looks like Jason Maquire went there to win the 3.50 so i'm not as keen on North Stack. However, Tim Vaughan doesn't usually have just one runner when he goes racing and i find it eye catching that he's booked Dougie Costello to ride for him as that jockey rides this track really well and i can't imagine he's gone there just to ride Sun Cloud earlier today.

    10/3.

Also like Knocklong in the Irish bumper - strong form from his first (and only) race.

Unlucky mate. I got chance to watch that race and he ran well enough. The front three just got away from him at the last. Never really threatened though to be fair but looked like a place was a real possibility.

Just watched the Flemenstar race - he just looks better with every race. If he and Last Instalment continue to progress next season we could have 2 genuine Gold Cup contenders from Ireland <ok>

I think I'd want to see him over 3miles+ before making a Gold Cup claim and I'd be concerned as to why he's not gone to Cheltenham this year when I'm looking at the Festival targets for 2013 but do agree he has looked sensational so far. He keeps improving and today went some way to proving he is versatile about trips to a point..

It might take both of them 2 years to get to the Gold Cup Quel, but it looks very promising so far. Did they interview Peter Casey after the race at all? <laugh> What a star

Flemenstar is a bad traveller which is why he isn't coming over this year.

To be honest I doubt whether either will ever challenge for a Gold Cup. Both want soft ground and they just aren't going to get that at Cheltenham in March.

Dunno Zen it was pretty testing when Denman won his Gold Cup.

You're right about Flemenstar being a bad traveller. 2 of my 3 kids are like that and I hate cleaning puke off car seats <yikes>

It's unlikely though. You'd expect good to soft or better which wouldn't be ideal for either.

The ground was far from bottomless for Last Installment's last 2 runs, something akin to what he may get at Cheltenham infact. Flemenstar won't get his ground mind and hasn't been proven at the trip.

I would agree that Flemenstar needs it soft, huge beast, and stamina not copper bottomed.

Not sure thats the case with case with Last Instalment who already has decent form on gd and gd/sft ground. If he can get over his injury, which is a big if,he has a bright future.

    Two lovely horses.

Is it a case of Flemenstar needing cut or just that he has only ever run on Good once, finishing 5th in a Grade 2 hurdle (no disgrace, just 2 lengths behind Last Instalment btw)?? I think he'd be OK on Gd/Soft wouldn't he? Mind you if he is a poor traveller we may never see him at Cheltenham ....................

Last Instalment has looked happy on all surfaces - over christmas it was Good (good to yielding in places) for the Fort Leney and that was arguably his best performance to date.

Not sure Oddy...we may find out at Easter in Fairyhouse which is his next target and where the ground can be drier.I don't remember Flemenstar being withdrawn due to ground conditions so far.
