Having trouble getting away from ES QUE LOVE 14-1 for the big handicap today. I don't actually like the horse as he seems to find one too good every time but I cannot see him not making the frame today. The "youngsters" at the head of the market have it all to prove in a big Ascot field. Two old handicappers that are big prices today, PALACE MOON & JUSTONEFORTHEROAD, could make the frame, both are 66-1.
I shall follow Boris with HILLSTAR.

For some, this was the race of the century (well last century, Grundy vs Bustino), best King George ever.

Bogart has a few Group race entries, runs in the 3.30 at York.

With Cape Peron a non runner, I fancy Makafeh 12/1 to reverse the form with Intrigo on this better ground.

What a horrible fall Amy Ryan had on Bogart at York. She could've been seriously injured but luckily she wasn't.

Has anyone layed Cirrus Des Aigles on the exchanges? If he's back to his best, he'll win. But he's opposable. Maybe Hillstar? He's been supplemented for the race but strictly on form he shouldn't be good enough to win. However, Sir Michael Stoute doesn't make supplementary entries lightly....

At 8-1 Hillstar was a good each way bet.
He's now been backed down to 5s. A small win bet I'd think?

The winner has to be good
This will not be referred to as poor field in 5 years time

What a magnificent looking animal Novellist is. Very happy for Johnny Murtagh, what a big race jockey he is. Novellist really did bust the track record. He will be a hot favourite for the Arc, surely. It should be a shot in the arm for thoroughbred horseracing in Germany which is in the doldrums at present, but I doubt it. Generally speaking, Danedream hardly got a mention last year, nothing on the evening TV news, etc., zilch.

The winner may well be good but in five years the others will not be thought of any differently unless Hillstar becomes a typical improving older horse with Sir Michael Stoute.

The course records at Ascot only date back to 2006, since the course was rebuilt in 2005 (remember Royal Ascot at York?), so taking two seconds off it should be with the caveat that Galician broke a track record in the previous race too. Novellist had two excellent pacemakers set the race up for a quick time on fast ground (so much for the weather forecast).

The kid Ronnie Whelan has already rode a treble for Bolger at Wexford, has two good chances in the last two for a 5 timer.

He is the future champion jockey in ireland, his ride in the last was class for an apprentice.

cheers ron, at the interview after the race, dean ivory was 'over the moon' --he picked the horse up for £2500 at the sales, it cost $740,000 as a yearling !--- its entered up for the stewards cup next week, personally, that may come a bit soon , but we all know the temptation for connections, especially with sprinters !
