I agree, they should let Long Run bowl along, let him see his fences and use his stamina. Ruby looked delighted with that. Kauto looked fantastic, I'm sure he was disappointed not to be running!
Race fitness and pro jockey was just enough to tip the balance in the favour of two very closely matched horses. I am never sure if Long Run is not the most natural of jumpers or whether a pro would indeed make a difference and help him jump better. SWC is a good amateur but that is still a huge way behind a jockey such as Ruby, Daryl Jacob or AP.
Long Run total dog I won't back him again he looks like a cart horse and he needs 6 miles. He is ****ing huge, I think if W-C was on SC and Ruby was on LR the result still would have been the same. Best horse won, but I don't think SC is now proven top table because Long Run is proving to be a dog. King George looks WIDE open.
I think you are mistaking the horse for the dog. The dog is the one on top of Long Run, and the reason that I left the race alone. I can't wait for the King George now, see if Ruby can repeat the trick on Al Ferof.
Disastrous Saturday is over for me. No League wins, relegation beckons Hold on Julio in the Hennessy next Saturday - good luck to those still playing
**** me I was so pissed of with that performance of Long Run that I turned off and went to do the shopping. Completely forgot about William's Wishes
Ooooooooooohhhh just watched the replay and VERY taken with William's Wishes - did that very nicely indeed. I seriously think this horse is Graded class and hopefully he will stay sound. Could be a big player in the Ryanair if he continues to progress.
Not going to go into too much detail as he has been absolutely punted off the boards and I couldn't recommend anyone backing him at his current price but, as the money probably suggests, he could easily be a steering job now back with the excellent and in form Keith Dalgleish on what looks an extremely lenient mark. Back in March of this year, this double C+D winner won off a mark of 72 at Lingfield in a apprentice contest and on his next start he ran a very good 2nd off the same mark over todays track and trip when finding only one too good whilst pulling 5L clear of the field. That was his last start for Dalgleish and he joined Ian Semple where he didn't perform with much verve at all in 8 starts for the yard (7 on turf) but resultantly he has slipped to a very attractive mark of 57. Returned to his former trainer who clearly gets a good tune out of him, it was only 8 months ago that he won off a 15lb higher mark for Dalgleish and if this 8 year is revitalised by Dalgleish he could take an awful lot of beating.
