That is true Oddy. Can't fault him there, he fairly bolted up. I'm sure there'll be some silly quotes for the Derby now.
Bolted up, looks smart. Only concern? He looks a lot like St Nicholas Abbey. HOWEVER, I do think he looks a bigger colt than him, which is a big plus.
Ultrasonic at Newbury then a small, speculative e/w on Otage De Brion at Stratford - ground and trip should be right up his street and he can get right back to his best today at a juicy price
How fit was Master Minded, that is the question here. Good win from Albertas Run anyway as i'm sure Jonjo O'neil wouldnt have had him fully fit for this, and the runner up is clearly one to follow this season.
MM always was a little overrated imo.How he was given a mark of 186 after his first CC victory still staggers me.
I know this is pocket talk Dexter but every time I back him he runs like that, and every time I don't back him he hoses up I thought that was terrible today, only looked half fit and I don't think Nicholls should be sending runners out so unfit. Ruby looked half asleep on him as well.
Dane O'Neill banned for using the whip 8 times on Gusto, surely the horse should be disqualfied if the rider is found to be in breach of the rules as it could easily be argue that the extra hit won the race.
I only had one potential bet in mind today and Frankie Dettori saved me some money by going to Newbury. I had thought about risking French Navy even though I had doubts about it staying the mile-and-a-half. When the price started contracting, I left it alone. It has always been a hold-up horse, but Dettori was up with the leader from the start and the horse was well beaten and under pressure by the turn into the straight. Maybe his instructions were to ride it like a definite stayer and change the tactics that had seen the horse will all bar two of its previous races.
Lion on the Prowl at Chepstow ....................... grrrrrrrrrrrrrr................. prowlin' and growlin'
Congrats Barney. He looked the Champion Chase contender he had promised to be there. Perhaps this will be his year . . .
