Done Tam can't wait God I wish it were Friday - French Opera, Sprinter Sacre, Zaynar, Hold Fast, Cue Card ............... and that's just the first 5 on the racecard for the opener at Newbury
Mr Henderson’s Binocular will not go to Kelso on Wednesday and now heads straight to the Champion Hurdle. 10/1 the best price for him to reclaim the hurdling crown, I see. Although some will say he never really lost it. Those ‘unfortunate circumstances’, of course, robbed him of a chance to defend his title last term.
Sir Barney your crytic footnote has got me wondering .......................... that you like Minsk for the Triumph is clear, but what's this other bally 4YO only hurdle race? The Supreme and Neptune are 4YO and upwards and I'm struggling to find anything else
aye its also got a stupid name (not Fred Winter) its a juvenile novice handicap hurdle, bear in mind all juveniles are novices are they not? Its the worst race at the festival in my opinion, detracts from the Triumph and is always won by something they haven't been fully straight with. Annoys me.
Still struggling with the horses in Barneys footnote though - I thought it must be Minsk and Chill but the former is trained by John Oxx and the latter by Dessie Hughes. Or has one of them moved recently? Edit: Shame on you Sporting Life, still showing Minsk with John Oxx when he has transferred to Dessie Hughes. If you really want to know, go to the Racing Post website
Nass, I’m very impressed by your grasp of Latin but less impressed by your ability to count! I can confirm the message refers to the pairing of Minsk and Chill. One could be a superstar (bearing in mind that he trained my favourite NH star of the millennium, Hardy Eustace, I am amazed that Mr Hughes is on record as saying that Minsk is ‘potentially the best’ he has ever trained) and the other could be a real old fashioned plot. Don't fret, old boy, the entries haven’t been made yet for the Freddie Winter.
Great call Oddy, the booking of Fanning was significant especially after the last few races where he has been ridden by a claimer, good call
YOu know what made me back him Nass? He's had more jockeys on his back than I've had hot dinners and yet that was just Fanning's 2nd ride ever on him in 123 races - thought a different jockey might do the trick. How about that for reasoning
Got to pick the twins up from school (god I love being a house-husband) but left a bet on Hinton Admiral in the next - I've got a funny feeling in my waters for Joe Fanning oday, think he's going to have a good day Billy The Fish
