I remember having my fib and tib broken playing football (tackle from behind) when I was 14. I immediately went to jump up to carry on but found I couldn't. It was a diagonal break from top to bottom. In plaster for 13 weeks. Main benefit was that it was my right leg which meant I could only kick with my left leg for 3 months and as a result I became equally lethal with either foot. Best wishes to the lad.
