2:36pm Inspection! Three jockeys, three trainers, clerk of the course Anthea Morshead and stewards are currently inspecting the course after safety concerns were raised because of the high winds after the first race. Morshead reports the wind speed at present is 31.9 mph - across the course. The gusts, however, are likely to be even stronger. 2:26pm Hairy stuff in the first The strong gusting way across the course was problematic in the opening race. Adrian Nicholls described it as "horrendous", while PJ McDonald said; "It's very strong; you'd get blown-off turning for home." Paul Hanagn, said; "It's not good at all. It's okay down the back, but as soon as you turn into the straight, the wind hits you and it's hard to keep them straight. I think we'll be lucky to get through the card, as it's supposed to be getting worseas the afternoon goes on."
After a 20 minute inspection proved inconclusive - the stewards have decided to wait until 3:20pm to look again although the winds have been well in excess of 40mph at the course during the last hour. (reopens) A second inspection was later announced for 3.20pm. Clerk of the course Anthea Morshead said: "We'll give it every chance. "The jockeys and trainers say the course is 98% fine, it's just very gusty as they turn in for home." 1ST ONE I PUT UP FROM rp. THIS FROM sp SEEMS MORE RECENT
Bloody flat jockeys are a bunch of ****s. AP would have his short sleeves on and his lightweight breechers. Ardent welcome to the thread
3:02pm Another inspection planned There will be a second inspection of the course at 3.20, with racing delayed in the meantime. Jockeys were none too happy after the first race, because of the strong gusting winds across the track and an inspection then took place. Stipendiary steward Adie Smith said: "Trainers and jockeys are agreed that it's not safe to race at the moment. But we have got to give it every chance, even though the forecast says that it's going to get worse. We shall have another inspection at 3.20 and then make a decision." Im with oddy, its a bit of wind, our lass has to suffer worse after ive had a good ruby and 6 pints of Turbo Shandys, thats Newcie Brown & Smirnoff Ice for the uneducated palates

Looks like front runners are the ones to be on at Listowel today so i've taken the 6/1 from Laddy's re: French Quebec. in the 3.45. Won well last time out, beating Madhmoonah who won well at the weekend pulling well clear with Wading and Rigoletta of a 21 runner field. If you look at the races she's run this year (third behind La Collina and 5th on debut behind teolane) the you can start to see that she's highly regarded. An opening mark of 80 seems very fair given the quality she's been running against and with the added bonus of Jonny Murtagh in the saddle I think there's every chance French Quebec wins today. The ground is the concern but that is a risk i'll take with the 6/1 on offer.
Oddy,I has a box of 9x330 and drunk them all and then about 2 bottles of Chianti Classico..I so wish I hadn't...
Dexter I was out at a bar in town where they specilise in food and drink from the Cologne area - very typical German food and beer. We had 17 between the 3 of us but I think I came off worst
