I went to Oktoberfest in 2002 as part of my honeymoon...great fun but full of foreigners! £700 wouldn't go far at Cheltenham. No ****ing bet today. That is all.
It may be yesterday's news, as I wasn't around, but I just heard on ATR that Puffin Billy finished lame. Which may give his supporters some hope if he recovers in time for the Festival. Or not - have to wait and see. I'm on Balding Banker in the next at Catts - single and doubled with Imperial Vic (not aftertiming, honest!)
Hope Ardent took that 8-1 with BOG - Diamond Frontier now 14's! Gotta be worth half a crown each way, right?
Bostonbob: I dunno, 700 quid seems an awful lot to me. I go every year simply because I live here, and all I have to pay for is the beer and grub. It is something to see once in a lifetime I'd say, but, you know, for a racing enthusiast like yourself at least one day at the Cheltenham Festival would be preferable? If you do decide on going, the big beer tents are the ones for the younger folk, and the smaller ones for the older veterans. But it's all pretty wild and the area is enormous and covers over 103 acres (42 hectares), and, yes, it is quite a hassle! Watch that Bierfest special beer though. Many non-Germans think it's easy drinking, it ain't. A few Maà (litre jug) beers and you're well on your way! Sorry, a very rambling reply, but it is not an easy question. Hope it helps a bit anyway.
Lovely spot ROTO and a good early price. The Carson stable are proving themselves very capable of landing a punt, they very rarely fail when it's clear the money is down.
