    Mick....I do make a living from gambling, though I never like to boast about it, I'm just happy for others to earn from my selections.

    It's a tough game and every bit as difficult as a full time job, my life is completely dominated by horse racing, 5 hours form studying and 4-5 hours watching racing every day. Too many people think were all high rollers who do no work, but they couldn't be further from the truth, anyone who shows a profit from gambling has to do plenty of homework, I'm lucky that I have a passion for horse racing, wether it be a seller at Wolverhampton or the Arc De Triomphe, I enjoy it all:biggrin:

    Looks like I'm on the right site then if I'm looking for a few winners. Like you Shergar I can spend hours looking through a complete card just trying to find an edge. I do alright (win slightly more than I lose) but I'm not sure I could ever become a professional (for one I don't bet enough!). I am a Statistician by profession so you would think that would help me, one thing I've learned though is that Statistics can sometimes be misleading. Any tips on what I should look for in picking winners.

    i am new to 606 and gave up backing horses as i couldn't pick a winner in a one horse race.
    Can you tell me do you post this thread every day.

    Welcome to the horse racing forum Minty. The Daily Thread is posted daily. Competitions will be run on Saturdays and for major race meetings. Anything else horse racing related any time.
