Shergs you don't have to win on debut to be good you know <laugh> <ok> it was a decent run and reports suggest she is getting the better of several previous winners on the gallops. Should be good enough to win a maiden

That’s a new association isn’t it??? Hannon and Hamdan. Sounds like a variety act from the 1970’s but certainly has the potential to be a profitable one for both parties. Fleeting Smile certainly deserves to win as that is a lovely name for a filly.

Watch your bets, people, today’s non-runners currently standing at a whopping 52!

One bet for me today in the 8.30 Goodwood - Vocational 5/1

Ran over 5 furlongs on saturday and was doing all her best work at the finish suggesting a step back up to 6 would be in her favour. Looking back on the two year old form also suggests this is the optimum as she finished a head second to the smart shumoos in a group 3 at kempton on her only other attempt. The form over 5 furlongs also reads well as she was only beaten just over 2 lengths behind requinto in last years molecomb. She has won on good to soft ground so that should hold no fears. She is also down to a mark of 94, 10lbs lower than on saturday, in an easier race and over 6 furlongs i think she will be very hard to beat

Good morning guys and gals. Interesting race the 1:40 RV, At the races website has Hughes on Hannons other runner, Glossy Possy with Hanagan on Fleeting smile it does appear to be a positive indication however the good to soft going could change if the weather up here is anything to go by.

Massive move for Mount Hollow 8:10 Bath from 16's to 5/1 I could look at the form book all day long and still not have a clue why the big move, Mr Hollinshead is a shrewd trainer though and the stable obviously got on early. Any thoughts?

Couple for today at my local track and both travel a long way for there stables only runners:

Catterick

3.45 NAABEEGA 11/2 also down in grade
4.20 BETWEEN US 11/4 looked as if she needed the run on her first run this year.

Meanwhile over at Newmarket, in the 3.20 EDRAAQ 14/1 (EW) did enough to suggest that he will run a big race soon and looks to be in with a shout, 5.05 UNDERWRITTEN 22/1 (EW) for the in form Andrew Balding yard looked as if he may have just needed the race FTO when fading in the last furlong with some useful types in front of him, he will stripped fitter for that race and could run a big race at a very nice price. 5.40 FINAL DRIVE 25/1 (EW) has some very nice form in much better compant than is on show here today albeit it on the AW and is upped in distance today which should suit, at his best is another that could pay dividends following at a very nice price.

At Market Rasen 2.20 XCLAIM 25/1 (EW)formerly with Clive COx on the flat is one i picked out FTO when he refused to race and if he gets going today once aging could pat dividends at very big price.

Niks Fleeting Smile is owned by Hamdan Al Maktoum. Hanagan is number 1 jockey to that owner <ok>

Wayward, I had swerved that 3:45 Cat race having initially selected Ruth Carr's C/D Red Cape a heavy ground winner. I have looked again and think I'll leave it to closer the off time. Presume it's wet up there?

ROTO, another very intriguing race is the 7:35 Lep. you put Sadlers Rock up but Unaccompanied is a class act who gave Flame and Glory a good run recently. unless today proves very profitable I shall be watching only, it looks to be a good meeting in Ireland this evening.

Another silly question from this racing amateur. Why was North Stack pulled out of Uttoxeter last night yet he is declared today at MR in the 4:40 in similar conditions. Is this a clue?

Non-runner count now up to a massive 72! And try to hide your disappoint stoically, regular readers, as one of those 72 is 1 of mine from earlier – Roxelina at Newmarket.

Just had a look at tomorrow’s meetings, whilst chomping a way on a light lunch, and am quite surprised at how appealing they actually are. Normally the period between The Derby and Royal Ascot is Dull with a capital ‘D’ but that doesn’t seem to be the case in 24 hours hence.

Newmarket looks particular nice and must report that the one that looks hugely interesting, to me, is ARAB LEAGUE of those Pipe’s in the ‘lucky last’. He’s never run for them on the level but was a 4 time winner, for the old rogues, during the last NH season when his handicap mark increased from 116 to 138. Down on just 78 tomorrow similar improvement should see him very hard to beat.

To be honest with the ground basically heavy Saddler's Rock won't be winning this. No way they're going to give him a hard race only 2 weeks prior to the gold cup!

So Red you've opted for the Dutch and RVP, it will be an intresting couple of weeks. Initially I wasn't really looking forward to the tournament but with the crap weather there has been lots of oppertunity to take a better look. For me Eng er land to qualify in 2nd place. There has to be a shock team, maybe France for me, Spain v Italy will reveal more but may be a bore nil nil. Poland and Russia should prove strong tonight but might have a few bob on portugal to beat the Germans on Saturday. Lewandowski to be top scorer for me

Richard Hughes pulled all his rides at N'market, couldn't fly due to weather so going to drive for Goodwood this evening. Wonder does he think his evening rides are a better bet?
