Morning all, very interesting to see Hal out again GDC..... would be good to see if Danbo hears anything.

Couple of things from my GG list:

French Hollow 20:20 Hamilton - won at 66-1 last time out and i missed it!! I wont be backing it again today so watch it romp home.
Federation 20:30 Newmarket - worth a bit of interest
    Jake The Snake 21:00 Newmarket - 9-1 is a decent e/w proposition
Darcey 21:00 Newmarket - 33-1, a couple of shillings for interest.
Supercede 20:25 Kilbeggan - Nap. Really like this horse. Has got a run under its belt and think at 6-1 is an e/w bet to nothing.

Also Dickie Le Daviour (nb) at Hamilton in the 19.45. Has a habit of running well at big odds and badly when shorter! 33-1 today so having a decent e/w bet.

Only golf competition that I watch and play on - mixed bag so far

I picked out that those playing yesterday afternoon/this morning were at an advantage with the weather so went for Westwood (+1), Schwartzal (-2), Stricker (-1) and Z Johnston (+2)

Happy with the two S's as they are making shots and looking like they could go on a good run. I am hopeful of the other two picking up a few shots on the par 5s and hopefully all will be par or better by the end of play

Morning all - hope you are all well - yes even you GDC :)

how is young Rory getting on lads ??

Plenty of good racing today. First three are from my GG alert list

3.15 Nottingham - MUSICAL VALLEY 7/2 BOG - I have backed Musical Valley here as I feel he is the value in the race at 7/2. This 2yo Gelding is going the right way now and shaped a lot better last time out than his 6th place finish at Chester would suggest, he had no passage at all when staying on well. That run came in a better race than the one he runs in today. I do fear Ocean Myth who could turn in to a decent type, he showed plenty of dash last time out over 5f, the Haggas stable remain in cracking form as well.

5.55 Newbury – SHERNANDO 5/2 BOG (NAP) - I am confident that Shernando can win this race following a desperately unlucky run at Chester last time out, he would have won that race for sure but found no gaps at a crucial stage before rattling home to fail by just a short head. That was in similar company and if he meets no trouble in running here he should win comfortably.

9.20 Hamilton – HIDDEN GLORY 11/4 BOG - Hidden Glory went on to the alerts after staying on strongly over 1m2f at Pontefract last time out, he travelled well out the back that day for Tom Queally and was rattling home at the finish. He is certainly capable of picking up a race in this company. The 4th home that day hacked up next time out and with Lee Topliss taking off a handy 5lbs Hidden Glory looks nicely handicapped and ready to win.

4.00 Haydock – MAHUBO 7/2 BOG - It is hard to weigh up the selections overall form having previously raced for Mike De Kock, he did show plenty a few times at Meydan though and with most of today’s rivals coming in to this race in poor form he may well be worth a small bet. He has a rating of 100 and I would fancy him to win if running up that today.

Will be backing in the races at Newbury as well but just as they come along :)

    Good luck all

Like the look of Stricker, he could be your best chance mate.

I've not backed him but still think Justin Rose has an Open win in him.

My old lad Davis Love is running well for a massive outsider :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Be torn tomorrow, good racing and golf, will be switching channels left, right and centre :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Gaz, Schwartzal is looking very good this morning already 3 birdies. Westwood on the other hand is having a mare again with the putter. Stricker ticking along too.

Rory starts this afternoon when the wind is due to pick up.

Nass: The first maiden at Newbury looks a cracker! Tamima looks a nice sort but Sylvester Kirk has done well when entering 2 in these big field races so i think i'll be backing:

Ice Missile and Periwinkle Way EW

Hal of a Lover is attracting support already <cheers>

GDC will be surprised if TICKLED PINK gets beat in that tbh - ran in a good maiden at Leicester when 2nd

Russelliana was the winner and ran 2nd in the Cherry Hinton lto

Pearl Diva was 3rd and ran 2nd in a listed behind Lillys Angel before winning her maiden

Playing for places I think AMPHORA is interesting, Runs for Highclere who sponsor the maiden and Balding is a trainer I like 25-1

Thanks, Bustino, that is interesting re. the Spring Symphony. Spring is my favourite season by a long chalk, so it's still a good name for the colt? Might have a couple of bob on this one as it's over a mile (perfect for Azamour progeny?) on decent ground. Worth a go, thanks for pointing this one out! <ok>

I should add that I thought one of Azamour's finest performances was when he finished third to Haafhd in the 2004 Champion Stakes on totally unsuitable ground. The going was quite soft which was very much to Haafhd's advantage, but Azamour ran a terrific race to finish in the frame.

Very rare that i bet under 4s in singles BUT today i may have to 'dive in'!!

The 850 Ham looks a dire affair but taking into account various runs and circumstances Hal of A Lover looks to have an outstanding opportunity to win again.

The fav (i'm sure will drift out to either jt fav or be 2nd fav) comes from the very 'out of form' Mark Tomkins yard. Cotton Grass won on HCap debut LTO but has been raised 5lb and also does not have 5lb claimer today so in essence is 10lb up although Mr Hanagan is an able deputy :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Brook Star is the bigger danger IMO, bred to improve for this rise in trip so is the FC choicce.

If Hal is ridden more positvely today i can see him winning thise quite cosily <cheers>

Afternoon all - one bet for me today and that is Sud Pacifique in the 5-20 at Newbury. Despite his not great run at Royal Ascot I still think this horse is capable of achieivng some great things in his career and fancy him to get back to winning ways today.

Some very nice Newbury maidens today, though from a betting perspective they are tricky. Some I like though:

1.55 Newbury: AMPHORA 14/1 ew- The Balding yard are in good form at the moment and maybe this is a silly way to look at things, but this is a Highclere sponsored race and is the only Highclere runner in the maidens. Likeable pedigree. Another one at a big price is Shannon Spree 16/1 who Hughes prefers to ride today. Presumably much better expected today. I think the favourite is an absolutely ridiculous short price.

2.30 Newbury- MARTIN CHUZZLEWHIT 8/1- This has a fantastic pedigree but concern is that he will need further to show his best. Having said that, Workforce started over 7f for Sir Michael so maybe this one will too. The owner, Sir Robert Ogden, has a 57% success rate in the last 12 months when Ryan Moore has ridden for him. I think this will go close on debut. Major danger is Jeremy Nosedas Harvard N Yale.

3.05 Newbury- JUNGLE BEAT 2/1- Buick and Gosden team up on this Derby entrant which is superbly bred, and another Galileo horse from Coolmore. Betting suggests it is highly regarded and their only runner at Newbury before they go to Doncaster later on.

3.40 Newbury- NORTH STAR BOY 10/1 (NAP)- I think this is a massive price. This is the first time Hughes has ridden it and it strikes me as a horse who needs to be given a tender, restrained ride before being delivered late. Was a little bit too keen last time under Jimmy Fortune but ran a cracking race at Royal Ascot when beaten 5 lengths in the Coventry. I think he would have been closer if in the centre of the course that day instead of on the unfavoured near side rail. Drop in grade today and no Frederick Engels or Power to deal with today. (We hope!)

    Todays Open Bet:

    Round Leader: Stewart Cink 100/1

Was 5 off the lead when I backed him this morning but he is only 4 behind after the leaders dropped shots. He starts in 20 minutes time and looks to have some excellent conditons. Thought he looked a value punt

1.55 Newbury – AMPHORA & TAMIMA 16-1 AND 25-1 (BOG) both E.W – An interesting maiden to start the Newbury card and to be honest I feel I am playing for place money behind Tickled Pink here, she ran 2nd in a warm Leicester maiden with the winner going on to fill the runner up spot on the Cherry Hinton and the 3rd home a runner up at listed level the form looks rock solid. At the price though Tickled Pink can’t be backed and there are a few nice looking newcomers at decent prices. AMPHORA runs for the Balding yard and is owned by Highclere who sponsor this maiden , the stables 2yo’s usually improve for the run but Balding has a decent type called Baptist in the same colours who managed to win first time out at a big price last year. There is plenty of speed in the pedigree and at 16-1 she makes E.W appeal. TAMIMA is the other one I will be having a small dabble on, Meehan’s 2yos also often come on for the run but he can ready one if he has a decent type and I have often seen Richard Hills chose the wrong one in these maidens, Tamima looks an interesting sort on paper and at 25-1 could run a nice race.

2.30 Newbury – MARTIN CHUZZLEWIT 8-1 WIN & DRUMMOND 33/1 E.W BOG – Another decent maiden and I will be backing Martin Chuzzlewit to win, he looks a very nice type on paper and was £420,000 purchase, he holds an early entry in next year’s derby and although he will need further in time the 8/1 about him seems a fair enough price. This is an above average maiden but I felt DRUMMOND shaped well enough first time out to suggest he is worth a bet at a decent price here, he will also do better once upped in trip but he was very green on debut and finished a never nearer 5th. At the prices he is worth a small E.W punt
