Been looking at Oddy's lovely Hexham. Real horses only jump big things. And they love to do it when it makes them feel really ****ed. The Hexham 15:10 fits the bill. The time and the pain concerned reminds me of that horse opera, "The 3:10 To Yuma." The original 1957 version featuring that wonderful thespian Glenn Ford. Not that horrible Russell Crowe abortion of 2007. The 3:10 to Hexham today will be a true test of strength. When the guns are slung and the lead is thrown, only be one gunman will live to tell the tale. And as quietly as he entered the hell town of Hexham, he'll fill his saddle and slowly make his way back to Gibbstown.
Get in Ballyvoneen Wasted trip for Fehily and the gamble on Uncle Petit went astray. Dushy Valley outran his bare form but was brilliantly caught on the line by Trevor Whelan - superb ride.
I backed Taradrewe today in the 4.20. The run LTO was good. Just got enveloped close to home by three others including a stablemate. I thought 11/4 was quite big. Only lost a length and if turning out under a penalty would be evens so with less weight than the yard probably expected her to be carrying I think she has a good chance. The 2nd fav has been backed so that may be the fly in the ointment. We'll see.
