I watched that race Blue. JS certainly gave up early with Piscean, having run it up the back of horses on the rail and eased right down, and still ran on without being pushed. The other one had a much clearer run on the outside but the jockey still managed to run his horse up the back of horses. The commentators' remarks were laughable I thought. "CM was very unlucky, just got caught in a pocket" - like **** he did; the jockey had a free run up the outside and took the horse right up the back of others before switching him out again. Terrible ride. And Piscean, "Didn't have the clearest of runs". What a ****ing understatement. CM was a bit too obvious a notebook case, having flown at the finish to lead just past the post. That will be clear in the form book. But Piscean's form might look bad in the form book whereas he didn't even have a race. He would certainly go in my notebook. It's interesting that this horse has run 66 times and only once before had been ridden by JS, and he won. Opened at 13/2 today and drifted to 8/1. Certainly one to watch but just heard the most interesting excuses for Piscean. "Has to be tucked in because he has problems breathing". And the analyst saying JS went for a gap to the left, then the right and both closed and by the time he got out it was too late. What a joke.
5:20 Lingfield - Red Rhythm. 9/2. Ran ok first time out. Been switched stables to Evans. Yard normally get improvement out of these. Good luck all.
Ron - When they looked at the race again on Piscean as they had had so many e mails on ATR they only showed the fact he was boxed in when he was, they did not show the start however when Spencer deliberately missed the break totally and from drawn 3 ended up completely last on the inside within 20 yards. Now i am not a jock and i know how the horse needs cover but 3 is perfect for that as you break and then hold your ground allowing those from wide looking to come over take the lead, wanting 3 or 4 to cover you. The point is you still need break rather than pull from the stalls, Spencer pulled from the stalls allowing every single horse come across virtually eliminating the horses chance. When he comes back in he says look i had no where to go which is true but it's why he had no where to go that is more important. When drawn out wide at Lingfield sometimes you do need drop in behind and hope the gaps come and that is dictated by your bad draw as for some horses it's pointless racing them from the stalls to come across as they will have nothing left. Jamie Spencer only needed break enough to hold a mid div position. We could give him the benefit of the doubt as we know when there is not a jockey alive that loves the instructions of 'hold him up' more than Frank and he need only hear this to think he has permission to get all nostalgic about yesteryear but personally i suspect the drift in the market and the bad break were not entirely unconnected. I shall be watching for him next time and if in the same grade and money coming will certainly follow that money.
I actually re-watched the race from start several times Blue and saw everything, many times. Actually, his win to run ratio is pretty poor so I think I'll cross him off.
MR ROBERT 10-1 6.40 Southwell is of some interest this evening. Dropped to a mark some way below what he has won off in the past and also dropped in distance to a suitable 2m 4f. With Dickie Johnson in the plate for the first I am certainly tempted.
Reading through this thread and I am shocked to see PN use the abbreviation FFS.........is that Fell, Fell, Slipped Up????
