1-10 at Sedgefield - how can people name their horse Going Wrong? Too much like tempting fate for me. I'm the same with Invictus, Toppy. I thought he ran ok and didn't know about the spread plate. I'll trust whatever the trainer/owner decide re Chelts
Afternoon chaps - from my blog so ignore points and stuff lol. 1.50 Lingfield 1pt win CHARM SCHOOL 11/4 (BOG) A fair enough maiden hurdle and I will start by pointing out that there is no obvious reason why the selection should reverse form with the current favourite Ashbrittle who finished 2 lengths in front of him at Ffos Las last time out and is now better of at the weights. However I was a big fan of Charm School on the flat and he seems the type that will learn lots from each run over hurdles. He started off his his hurdling career in the Grade 2 Persian War Novices Hurdle at Chepstow which was won by Fingal Bay and he actually travelled well for a very long way before weakening out late in the race, considering he had been off the track for 714 days that was a respectable effort. His next and latest effort was the race at Ffos Las where he finished 3rd behind Jumps Road and as mentioned above Ashbrittle. Whilst David Pipe's 5yo is certainly open to plenty of improvement I am going to take a chance that Charm School is going to get better with each spin over hurdles and at 11/4 he is worth a bet in my opinion. 2.20 Lingfield 1pt win TITEUF DE TIERCE 13/2 A tight handicap chase but I get the feeling that Titeuf De Tierce will have improved a lot after his first outing for current connections and a mark of 113 could be workable having been dropped 2lbs for his run at Bangor. He travelled well for a long way that day but it was obvious he raced keenly throughout the race and as expected he didn't find much for pressure after this. The selection had been bought by connections after winning a small race at Pau in impressive style on soft ground. He should relish the conditions this afternoon and for me he is the one unexposed horse in the race, therefore at 13/2 I don't mind taking a chance that he has improved a lot for his run at Bangor. 2.30 Meydan 2pts win SARRSAR 5/1 (BOG) A decent enough race to get the Dubai Carnival under way and for me Frankie Dettori may well be on the wrong one here. I know he is not daft but I am not a big fan of his horse and Sarrsar has the profile of a horse who will do very well out here. He won very well at the Shergar Cup meeting at Ascot and has since went on to prove his Ayr flop was all wrong when running the classy King Torus close at Nottingham in a slowly run race which wasn't ideal. He has Mickael Barzalona up top and I expect him to run a massive race, for me he is not a 5/1 shot and is worth a 2pt bet. 5.00 Meydan 3pts win START RIGHT (3/1 BOG) I am really looking forward to Start Right making his debut for Godolphin tonight. A progressive performer throughout last season for Luca Cumani he was purchased by current connections for the carnival and has a perfect chance to win at the first time of asking for Saeed Bin Suroor. Last season he was touted as a group horse in a handicap numerous times and I still believe he has the potential to prove that statement to be correct. The 1 mile trip is ok for him if ridden correctly and he has the perfect jockey tonight for judging the pace (Dettori). I think he wins this well and I am just praying I don't see the words seen so many times with this horse last season (NEAREST FINISH)
TITEUF DE TIERCE - they are masters of linguistics up there................. please log in to view this image
I think Soul Bid could go well at Sedgefield - been highly tried of late and 105 could be a decent mark for his handicap debut
