I do think that is a bit unfair, we had a good sustainable model (over 2-3 seasons) until COVID came and killed income outside the PL. The season before we were one of very few clubs to turn a profit, and a hefty one at that. Very easy now with hindsight for NP and others to say it was a flawed policy. I don’t recall too many saying it in 2018-19….

If a bigger club , offers a player more money, and a better standard of football most will take it, it’s as simple as that. We buy players from lower league clubs, higher league teams do the same to us. Whatever philosophy you employ as a club you won’t stop it. All we as a club can do a club Is try to buy cheap, improve the player, and sell high, with decent sell on clauses etc.

Where I believe we went wrong previously was using a scatter gun approach, I think NP will buy players that fit the system he wants to employ. SL & Ashton wasted far too much money imo.

To a degree we have to be more selective now anyway, as we have far less money to play with. I just wish we could have had NP whilst we had more cash, as I think we’d have had a better chance of being successful.

I don’t think so, no. I’m sure the coaching staff would have noticed if he was.

    Jovane Cabral link
Reports from Tuttomercatoweb on Sunday linked Bristol City with a move for Sporting Lisbon forward Jovane Cabral.

The report adds: "the player would arrive in the English club outright, saying goodbye to Sporting Lisbon where he had returned after his period in the capital."

Cabral, 24, spent the second half of last season with Lazio and scored one goal in four appearances although his stint was impacted by injury.

There's not much more information on the links but the player's contract runs out in 2023 and he's predominantly a left winger who can play on the right and through the middle.

Another report in Abola claims Besiktas are the favourites to sign him with Sporting looking to sell him for 2.5million Euros. We'll bring you anymore the information if and when we get it.

If it’s true and they make a decent offer he’ll go, no doubt whatsoever, we’ll need to replace him though

Would he go to be No 2 for a club that will undoubtedly be back in the Championship next season? It would demonstrate a severe lack of ambition.

This must surely be the game in which we have a lot to prove based on our less than stellar performance against Hull with yet another late give away. Probably the best crowd of the season awaits us and I'm sure a good decisive home win is surely on their individual minds and anything else will prove to be a downer. How much longer can we accept the excuses for poor performing and just sit back and say it will get better soon because as our record shows under NP's stewardship it clearly is not changing our fortunes in any way. We are a short distance from becoming relegation potentials and we so need the Ashton Gate faithful to get behind the team especially versus Sunderland and we should be grateful that they won't be led out of the tunnel by you know who. Frankly I am on the edge of giving up the ghost on my boyhood team as I am really starting to believe we don't have the moxie to produce anything other than the garbage that have worn the City shirt over the last several years.

If I had a decent crystal ball it might say that since the advent of Bristol Sport rather than the original entity called Bristol City the emphasis on football has disappeared down the drainpipe along with a couple of rats and never needed players. After watching yet another version of the gong show yesterday I am regretting just renewing my subscription to Robins TV as I am not expecting anything to improve in the near future so perhaps my time would be better served by staying in bed. It breaks my heart to see this disorganization from my club and after yet another repeat of our transfer business being less than dull it makes me fear where we might be by mid-December. There are those that will say that I shouldn't be so negative after only one game and I clearly understand that sentiment but can anyone put me back on the positivity track by giving me some booster juice and hope that NP and the players on hand can truly put the brakes on this seemingly endless losing mindset? Should the worst happen and we are teetering on the edge in a couple of months does anybody think we are capable of turning the corner with NP at the helm in December with a transfer window approaching in January and possibly no funds available?

I truly hate to post like this so early on in the new season but I am starting to get a bit ticked off at the cavalier way our leadership just accept that this is our lot in life and we, as supporters, just have to suck it up and get on with it or go elsewhere for our entertainment. Sorry guys but that's just the way I feel right now but maybe things might change soon but I think I need some time off the radar.

P.S. Was it an omen that the wheels fell off the team bus on the way to the stadium because it sounds like a sick joke to me?

Doubling his salary might soften the blow.

Imo it’s the final season that Pearson needs to prove his worth, because anything other than a playoff place would be a failure, it was the whole reason for bringing him in the first place.. LJs departure was supposed to be about progress (not even a glimpse by the way).
I’m really trying to be optimistic, probably setting myself up for yet another disappointment, but that’s what being a City fan is all about!!
I’ve thought for quite a while, we are a few players short of being a decent side, we’ve just never quite got there for one reason or another..
So frustrating to see spells where we look really good, then a lack of concentration allows the opposition to exploit our weaknesses..
I think we have to give it at least a dozen games to see where we’re at before making judgement.. I’m interested to see how we respond after the Hull game as I really don’t believe we deserved to lose that..
I quite like the new players that have come in, but they must be allowed time to gel and get used to championship football..
For now, I’m keeping the faith!!

Will it? He’ll have a chance to impress and become their number one, plus there’s a chance they’ll stay up, with us he’ll have no chance of PL, either playing or wages. I think he’ll back himself to prove he’s good enough to be their number 1.
