I was disappointed when Adriano Basso made his debut.
He took over from Steve Phillips, a good mate of mine.

Within a few games I realised GJ/PJ had unearthed a very special talent.
I know some prefer Gibbo but Basso is my favourite City keeper.

I liked Basso but I'm firmly in the Gibbo camp, use to love his routine of getting us all going and leaping for the crossbar.

Bakinson clearly has an attitude problem combined with an ability to under perform when it suits him which puts him in a category along with many more alumni of Bristol City. We have this propensity to sign players who develop some kind of mental block when it comes down to putting in decent shifts for our club but perk up at the ridiculous salaries on offer in the past. Until such time as the players we sign are given a dose of reality regarding the requirements of their tenure we will have a poor chance of improving our lot in the football world. Players that are on higher than normal wages when they arrive have rarely stepped up to the plate and earned every penny of what they earn and if they do then the likelihood of them staying to help us move upwards is not in their psyche. It's a problem that we have never got on top of so we need to balance both the books and player's notions of their worth and talent. I also thought Basso was one of our better finds from the lower leagues but didn't he get greedy when it came down to a new contract?

Need to move him on-another that will not give you a season without injury issues-cannot afford to have passengers next season.

Some big decisions for Nige to make this summer. For me he got a lot wrong last summer, so he needs to up his game this summer.

Yep, I agree. I would also move on King and O'Dowda from the out of contract crew in 2022/23. The jury is still out on Klose for me, I don't see him as the commanding CB we need alongside Kalas

there is no money to spend! getting rid of players will do 3 things 1] save wages, 2] gain a small fee [ dont forget selling a player for £1m does not men you have £1m in the pot, its less ] 3] likely need to have a body to fill the space!
FFP whilst would be nice get rid of some of the "debt" by anon putting in some money, thus adjusting the equity.. then getting a points deduction anyway...!!!! not really on!

Had NP got things right and we were in top 7-12 then our players may well be worth a tad more? even if only 10% more then the top 6 valued at around £50m would likely be a bonus £5m [ or 2 players wages for 3 seasons on £15k a week! ] not that we would sell 6 for £50m!!!!

I think the first thing the club has to do is improve the coaching ... we need a good defensive coach. Whilst we seem settled in attack when it is not messed about [ because unlike Bakinson ] the player/s dont give a toss as long as they play! Tell Wells he needs to play RB and he will do it.. not exceptionally well but will do his best!......!!!!! THE PLAYERS should be forwards .... midfield ... defenders
eg SEMENYO/WEIMANN/MARTIN should all have a cover say dedicated striker .. dedicated link [ like Weimann ] and a player at home doing either! 17 players line up on match day + a sub goalie....... I think this summer we have 6 capable players for attack [ although CM doesnt really float my boat! ] so transfers should concentrate on mid field / defence....

as a footnote ... my opinion floats around NP NOT instilling confidence, has the attitude of "lump it or like it" in some of his interviews... Taylor Moore played some good games had a bad one "was given the he needs to learn address" and next season out on loan to a team needing cover for their regular players! Bakinson, not really sure "why he suddenly fell from .. he is a good player one for the future build " to a week or so later bundled out the the door after being dropped was it because he didnt like the idea of playing out of position .... rumour!"

Agree with all except Klose the guy is class and we must keep him onboard for another season-however there is interest elsewhere.

if he stays, then one or more of Kalas, Baker, Atkinson, Cundy as well as Moore and Vyner, need to move on to allow us to get in a dominant ball-winning CB.

Baker I personally think is our best central defender -class but don't know when to pull out of a challenge.

Atkinson and Cundy will be here.

    Kalas watch this space.

Vyner and Moore will be gone.
