Kane Wilson to Bristol City: What do we know so far? Is a transfer likely to happen?
please log in to view this image

It does not appear that Bristol City are preparing for an eye-catching summer transfer window as a whole, but that is not to say that some smart business cannot be conducted at Ashton Gate.

Kane Wilson has burst onto the scene in League Two this term and certainly provides some value in the market with his contract running out at Forest Green Rovers this summer.
Although they may be held back a little financially, Bristol City need to have a positive window or the risk of relegation to League One next season will substantially increase.

What do we know so far?
Bristol World believe that the Robins are interested in pursuing a deal for Wilson this summer, with right back or right wing back clearly an area that needs addressing for next season.

The contract situation could see a lot of competition could see a lot of other potential suitors show interest in Wilson and with Forest Green Rovers closing in on the League Two title, meaning that their audience and the scrutiny on the individuals who have made it possible will only increase in the coming months.
Is a transfer likely to happen?
Yes, Wilson is very likely to leave FGR this summer although being first choice at his new club may well be a priority.

That would be more likely in League One, but if given a chance the 22-year-old could adjust quickly to the second tier and become an important player under Nigel Pearson next season.
At the moment, it feels like Wilson could have better and more stable options to choose from.

I heard something about the possibility of this move when I watched their game versus Colchester a couple of nights ago although not much was said about the details. Having not watched a game in League Two ever I was surprised to see 2 of our ex-players on the pitch and they were Cole Skuse and Jon Akinde wearing a Colchester shirt. Where did they all go? The strange bit about the article on the transfer was the comment about us being candidates for the drop unless we get it right this summer - OUCH. Where did it all go so wrong?

Whilst SOME players have been able to jump 2 divs (Alli, Vardy) it's rare.
    I fear another Szmodics debacle

His worst enemy has been his wages.
He’s not a terrible player - far from it - but whenever he does ANYTHING - which isn’t often - he’s judged on cost - like Wells.

The reason he has not featured is he is injured and likely not going to available anytime soon ... maybe they should check!

Palmer has immense talent but I believe something is lacking in his make up.

Sometimes it's an amalgam of the right manager for that player and his understansing how that player ticks.
However, imo Palmer has had numerous coaches/managers observing his talent and only BCFC thought him worth a contract earning £20k a week.
Very recently, when times were different, Palmer wasn't the only player (O'Dowda etc) given a contract that in today's climate is hard to believe. Reminds me a bit like 40plus years ago when long contracts were given but those players ripped up their contracts. Times are a way different now and Palmer won't be ripping his contract up anytime soon.

The present set up have to deal with these expensive mistakes and it's City fans who bear the consequences.

    Ps
In a way I hope Palmer finds a club that unlocks his talent, it would be a terrible waste should he end up plying his trade in lower leagues.

It's a wierd world football, I really like Palmer, skilful, nice enough bloke, not arrogant or gobby but I can't wait to get rid of him, the sooner the better and get some finance in for the club.
