If it wasn't for Redknapp we would have won all 46 games and scored 150 goals in the process.

Who knows - it's likely to have been Harry's call to allow him in even if it wasn't his idea so maybe credit there. Frankly I don't care at the moment as I'm still watching the replays of the goal - we're there... God knows how but we are...

I think Flyer's points are generally sound - in that no-one knew, whatever they say (other than just blind belief) I certainly didn't, and nothing I have ever done or thought including lucky shirts, pants and OCD style pre match routines have ever had an effect on the end result. Had Harry been replaced I wouldn't have cried as I thought he had lost the plot - and what would have happened then? The only facts are that it worked - irrespective of whether you believe it was because of or despite Harry - it worked.... now what happens next... That's another 'conversation' to be had...

I'm with Flyer on this... My overwhelming feeling is also relief - tinged with a bit of disbelief - which is why I keep watching the goal and pinching myself.

Flyer makes many valid points there to be fair to him and we were a bit fortunate. However, HR does deserve some credit here. Most neutrals I speak to think so.

It was Barton's suggestion to Harry to bring in Steve Black. Watch from 42.45

Although the whole show is so good it's well worth watching it all.

I was waiting for the first "Steve Black improved the team spirit, not Harry" assertion. He was only there for the latter few months of the season, not over summer when the real serious work needed doing. Black tweaked + polished up an existing team spirit, he admits as much in the interview nines posted.

A pile of negative ****e!!
There was no luck involved in that Wembley win. Derby had 30 minutes with an extra man, but couldn't make it count. We defended brilliantly and then put the ball in the net!
Brevett should shut the **** up!

COL, just so you know, the article you've quoted is Peter Damage's and not Rufus Brevett's - unless you got it from that link which isn't working for me.

For some reason Flyer has copied and pasted Damage's post from another thread.

Just a sec here Col, when we met up at half time during the Wembley play-off final you thought that we were going to lose. Didn't you think that we were still lucky to be in the match at that point?

I did indeed think that we were going to lose, as we were being out-numbered in midfield. I thought it even more after the sending off, didn't you?
However, as I keep saying, Derby failed to take advantage of their superiority in numbers and we defended superbly. No luck involved at all imo.

As much as i like Brevett as a player Im not buying into his views about football or our club.

He was a Foolham player anyway wasnt he ?

I'd be surprised if any 'R' in the ground felt any different Col. I certainly did. It was 89 very uncomfortable minutes. That's what made OBZ's goal even more magical.

I could be totally wrong here but given the strong reactions, I'm not sure COL and Queens have read Brevett's comments and not Peter Damage's.

This is all Brevett said:

“Do they need a raft of changes? Even before Rangers got a man sent, Derby were the better team, and Harry (Redknapp, manager) knows it. I think Rangers should do better (this season). I can’t see them making the same mistakes, but I think you’ve got to buy players that are not on the way down. Players like those from the likes of Chelsea are just coming for a payday. You need players who are still hungry and have something to prove. (Lampard) is different. You know what you’re going to get with Frank, and he would be playing for his uncle.”

Thanks for posting this nines. I found the whole show totally fascinating.
Barton's contribution in the dressing room can't be underestimated imo and listening to him, it sounds as though he's fallen under the QPR spell!

Barton definitely a changed man. He has brought more to the club than we could ever have imagined at the beginning of the season, when a raft of people here were waiting for him to implode (some almost rubbing there hands). A few signs of how things changed: Steve Black, the huddle, the way Clint called Joey up to lift the cup. Joey feels part of this club now, and he is talking like a real leader.

I seriously hope we retain Steve Black for the pre-season and start of our campaign at least (whole season would be better) to ensure that we integrate any new players into our 'band of brothers' and remind our squad what we have to achieve in our first season back. This will be enormously important in kicking off positively and getting new guys on board, and focused, quickly.

Hopefully those who doubted Barton, for whatever reason, are now willing to see he has been a big positive for the team this season and has earned our plaudits, long may it continue...

Sorry Col i can still watch that one match again and again and still think we are going to lose it. Harold takes the cream that's the way today in Football but lets al be fair on this at times Harold really did let our club during the season ... we knew that and to Flyer's credit he and others saw that very early on but i agree some of those opinions have mounded and blinkered our thoughts

We are up and we must celebrate I am with you all the way but we were lucky things turned out as they did

For me their are still more questions than answers about what Harold does and how his day to day approach works on his teams ... He has had a fine career and is this nation's favourite media manager but he is maybe past that stage of actually controlling football teams. He is without doubt a man that has to look good at all costs and if it goes wrong then we have all seen how he reacts against players that weren't his choice. He will be remembered for getting QPR back into the top flight no doubt where I see it that Stephen hasn't been given the full credit for taking two sides IMO to the brink of the Premiership. I hope Derby like most of my footballing friends get up next year and people don't always get what they deserve ... it's a hard fact of life and again Derby were very unlucky not to win against us. Defending is just one part of the game I agree with you we did great there ... well the players did.. we stood strong without the ball ... what we did with it on that day was very poor I will always remember it that way. Junior Hoilett made our that goal albeit from a poor final pass and a big slice of luck ... it was enough

So we face the future now and some of us on here can already see that we need some change in our approach. Flyer I know 100% knows his football very well as he sees things similarly to me off the ball and without the ball.

The fear it sounds you had at Half time comes from somewhere? I believe it's the exactly the same source as a lot of fans on here

As a fan base we all need to learn to accept victory with dignity, revel when we thrash teams off the park and take a loss on the chin ... we aren't doing that at the moment... why imo we asa club are nowhere near being settled yet and we face yet again another influx of players ... Harold's players that is a fear I have to combat inside myself because we aren't playing QPR football yet IMO ... luck can go with or against us and we can't continue to roll the dice in a man who recently said Management is easy and there is nothing to do if you get the right players ... Today's game as you know from your excellent reviews and team selections during last year is no longer down to luck ... we have to make our own IMO
