Just to put it into perspective, I am one supporter who they can take for granted, despite being caught in the Senior Citizen / 65 yo change, I will be getting my ST, but to do so I will have to make a few financial sacrifices, and would appreciate a simpler process to acquire it.
Probably best then to put your concerns and suggestions in a constructive way directly to the club via a good old fashioned letter. Will probably get a better response than posting stuff on here or in the Echo comments section.
When I go to SMS I have to pay around £6 to park. I live in Essex so can only go around 5 times a year. 5 times ill pay £30 and park around 15 minutes from the ground. There saying they wont pay £1 to park at the stadium? idiots
The Echo is full of poor journalsim, it has been for a number of years. This is just another non story like most of their non stories. Long gone are the days of Graham Hiley articles and wonderful pre season pull outs! I now boycott the Echo just like every other newspaper as they're all full of partial rubbish.
I must clarify that the first response was based on a message received from the Club in response to a polite enquiry, it was just that off the cuff oneliner "it was in the best interest of the Club" which is all too easy to be misunderstood and food for the Press to use against them, I am not saying that the Club are in the wrong, they are not a Charity waiting to be subsidised, they are a business struggling to survive in a dog eat dog scenario. My point is that they must be careful not to give the impression that they are not taking the Supporters needs into consideration when making financial decisions, after all we are the ones who pay their wages, one way or another. There is a fine line between being fan concious and money grabbing obsessed. As with any organisation that keep their cards close to their chest, failure to supply information leads to things being made up. and even if not true, mud sticks and can be damaging. As for putting my views to the Club I do, but I would like to hear the views of others and this is a good source of discussion, that I thought is its purpose.
It would take a good deal more than a Car Parking charge to trigger that response from me, especially as I don't have a car!
What kind of supporter gives such bad publicity to the club over a pound! Yes, it would be reasonable to give you a 30-min period for buying tickets/visiting shop, but miss the coming season..never!
I have to say the Headline of fans handing back season tickets was a surprise. Especially as I said before this seasons tickets have yet to be issued. I have been past the ticket office on numerous occasions and have not seen queues that would be taking that long, that you would have to pay a charge in the car park. Unless of course they have recently increased the charges. As the first 30/40 minutes was free. However with the checks they have to do it is not impossible of course. In the scheme of things £1 is not a great deal these days for parking. If you were queuing say for a theatre ticket or the like you would not get away with out a charge for parking. If you go anywhere in the city there is a charge for parking in the main. No, I repeat It seems to have been a set up with the echo to try and bring yet more criticism on the Saints hierarchy. Another nail in the coffin of the news industry in addition perhaps to the news of the screws ceasing to exist................
As much as I agree with you about the Echo article being an excuse to have a pop, I think the car park fee is an un-necessary charge to fans. They have cut the free parking time from 1/2hr to 1/4 hr so they must have thought they weren't making enough out of it. You are right that £1 is not a great deal for parking but it is Saints own land and not a public car park as it would be in the city centre.
Its simple - don't buy the anti Saints rag for one and don't go on their website as they charge advertisers based on the number of hits their webste gets SIMPLES!
It is funny ..You prepared to spend £1000 for 10 months ... but then 30 mins later you moan at paying £1 ... 1 word for this 1 DAY fan DICKHEAD!
I didn't even realise you could park at St Marys free for any time, I always just assumed there was a charge! - I'd better start saving up for the quid charge ready for when I pick my ticket up. I wonder how much Saints gave those two 'fans' for last years Season tickets, and how much did they pay for parking when they were retuning them
He bumped a thread earlier, by hitting an incorrect button, and I think it's gone to his head. I might as well be here as I have a trapped nerve in my back and I can't do anything else without pain, but I'm not that bored yet.
