He means Scott Sinclair who was one of Swansea's promotion stars but useless for us. Not Dean Sinclair, who never looked like making the grade and has now been released by Grimsby.
Ah... point taken... my bad. In which case he can add Carlton Cole to the list, if we're adding loanees. And about 100 who were poor for us and went back to their club and were... wait for it... even worse when they got back.
none of those players have made it since leaving us. patches of good form in the Championship don't count as they were all with us in the Championship anyway
Racon is a good player, and am more gutted at losing him than semedo, but he wasn't our best player. JJ, BWP and IMO, anyinsah were our top 3 last season.
BWP would do nowt for 89 minutes but would then turn on a sixpence and score a goal On that basis I wouldn't say he was one of the best players last season We didn't have many guys who were much more than average Player of the year should have been given to Warner !!!!
Same as Van Nistelrooy, but wasn't he voted player of the year for doing the same as BWP, but at a higher level? BWP is our most valuable asset.
In terms of doing his job (as a striker his job is to score goals) he probably is the best, but he is far from the most technically gifted player. So it really depends on what your definition of 'the best player' is.
I would say he is one of the more technically gifted players we have - he has the ability, if the game is drifting, to unleash a shot from distance that will test the keeper and get the crowd going, or something similar. He always looks like doing something when he's on the ball and for my money there aren't any better finishers in this league. Who would you say is more technically gifted then?
Well I tend to disagree, the only time he excites me when on the ball is if he is in the opposition box, otherwise I feel he's about to give the ball away or get tackled, he also doesn't have the flair of a typical striker of his height and build. I would say Anyinsah was a far more technically gifted striker, but other than him, and possibly Racon (and on occasion Martin), there were very few technically gifted players in our squad last year.
You couldn't be more wrong... the majority of our players technically gifted the ball to the opposition on lots of occasions...
Our player of the year should of been Llera last season..he should of been given a contract BAD move by CP hopefully its his last major bad decision
Valley Redemption never a truer word said Mikey, I agree wholeheartedly that Llera should have been offered a contract (perhaps he has been but hasn't signed?), he has been our best CB by far for the past 2 seasons, though I do admit he is error prone.
All 3 of those have now gone WWOCB, Evina may well be a tricksy type player but otherwise BWP is the best player in the squad.
WWOCB... agree last season, but Dailly was spot on the year before. Llera is the only one of the CB's that's a vague threat in the opposition area, the only one who can pass, and the free-kick specialist (yes, I stifled a giggle there, but can't deny he scores the occasional one). On the flip side... he's just not reliable enough to build a side around. Fine sub...
Llera is nothing more than an average league one defender. If he is the best we can do for centre back, we will never go up.
I hate the British view on the game 'drifting', players like BWP and Jonjo before get criticised for not running like headless chicken after everything. They're actually intelligent players, if they're not going to win a header or gain a good position to contribute for the team or support players etc they dont waste their efforts, so they are able to pull off the brilliance when it's there. Pick you're moments. Anyinsah was by far one of our most impressive last year
Anyinsah... Who...? (played so infrequently for us it was ridiculous). Give me a so called 'drifting' forward like BWP who does absolutely nothing for 89 mins but comes way from the season with 20+ goals under his belt all day long...!! Defenders = Defend Midfielders = Able to pass the ball and retain possession Forwards = Score goals What more couls you ask...?
If Anyinsah had been available more then we would at the very least have been challenging for the play-offs right till the end of the season, we always looked far more dangerous with him in the team, given his ability to hold the ball up and bring others into play. The fact that he almost never lasted a whole match was incredibly frustrating
I concur 100% with your assessment of him Captain... However... The first word of your post was IF... If's, but's and Maybe's don't win promotion...!! IF Youga wasn't injured and had played LB... IF we hadn't sacked Parky MAYBE we would've won promotion... BUT we did sack him and that's life... IF we'd have signed BWP earlier... You get my drift...
Dailly was nothing more than a past it used to be ok top level player and a shadow of himself ditto Doc and Fortune and sadly below ave league 1 players last season
