Probably just the usual "but can he do it on a rainy Tuesday night in December" business. A nice even pitch in sunny August isn't challenging for a good player, December/January on an away day up North is a different matter.
Generally, it seems that the physically stronger players from Spain settle quicker - Torres and Michu being examples. It took David Silva a while to click and I think Granero is that kind of player (not quite as good but still technically excellent). I think Granero might have found the lack of time disconcerting even if he initially coped. Add to that the loss of confidence that's endemic in the team and I think that's it. Judging by his tweet about there not being any excuses, I think he still has the heart and he'll come on strongly in the new year.
He's used to playing with the best players in the world, who think quickly, move into intuitively understood positions, and are happy to take the ball when marked. These guys made him look good too. He's learning that ours aren't quite up to that, which means he's holding on to the ball longer and having to scrap to keep possession, then short on options to move it on. His confidence ebbing as a result. Strikes me that Faurlin is most on his wavelength. Ale, the Pirate, Adel, Samba and M'bia are all good players, more than just technically. It will click very soon.
Agree with that and I'd hope to see more of the one-touch interchanges between our Spanish speaking pair - quick movement of the ball and it created plenty of space (especially against Spurs). The midfield is my main source of confidence at present.
Dunno. Thought Granero caught the pace, tone and battle aspects of the prem right up until the Saints debacle. He looked a pale shadow positioned out right in the first half. Not sure if he felt out of position or was just badly affected by the heavy dark clouds descending over the club / team. Really want him to return to form with renewed belief and pave the way to us staying up. However, that won't keep the wolves at bay will it? (Well not so much Wolves but you know what I mean!)
I think Granero will be out the team on Saturday Brix Harry was not impressed with his first half against Villa and will not think twice about making a change
The trouble is Derry is next in line and he is a bad player, Id be very happy if Faurlin replaced him but not Derry.
I don't think you can judge any player based on the season so far. Every player has had a good game, but as a collective they haven't put it together for 90 minutes. Granero looked really settled with faurlin, but then faurlin had a shocker against west ham, diakite got sent off, and ever since then granero just hasn't seemed to be as in to his game.but he's quality and seems to have the professionalism to play for his club regardless, as does Mbia. I think he'll come good again, but confidence in the whole team is low and probably will be until they get a win. But thn I think things could change in a lot of players.
