Fair point. A somewhat special case in because of the boyhood connection and more importantly because KK managed to convince everyone that we were an important club but fair point nonetheless.

I suppose you might toss in Matt Le Tissier in there as well.

Any examples in the last 20 years ?

Pancrates newcastle

He's not a rw either Roland I've seen him play CDM he ran the game

He plays right side of three upfront for France not as a wing back

Roland I worry you may be a victim of pardew my son.

The right side of a front three? You mean as a right winger? The same position you said he doesn't play the sentence before. This is sloppy even by your low standards.

No it's a different position entirely than he playing for us

You my friend no nothing about football

France play 4 3 3

Ride side of up tops in 4 3 3 is a totally different role

Mate, Man U sold Ronaldo, Spurs sold Bale and Modric, Borussia Dormund sold Goetze and Khedira, Chelsea sold Lukaku, Liverpool sold Suarez. The list is endless, there are only 3 clubs in the entire World who don't sell - Bayern, Barca and Real Madrid. Despite what Man U say, their only real loyalty came from English players.

In football, a winger is an attacking midfielder in a wide position. Wingers are usually players of great pace or dribbling ability so as to provide cut-backs or crosses from which strikers can score. Their main function is to support attack from the wings. Wingers do lots of high-speed running from defence to attack.

I disagree

I don't seek footballing tips from Wikipedia.

Playing Sissoko right side in a 451 requires a different set of attributes than a right sided am in a 433

You can't expect Wikipedia to know the difference

hilarious

Wikipedia describes Sissoko as a box to box midfielder ha you twat

For what it's worth, Sissoko has been best on the break because he's like a train. But he can't do it from the middle because he isn't intelligent enough to pick up space centrally, like a Modric or a Scholes or a Vieira could do. He doesn't want to stick a foot in either, so again he's not really a Vieira or Toure style box-to-box player.

For me he's a right sided midfielder. A powerful one, which is no bad thing, but the right side of the attacking foursome (featuring Cabella, De Jong and...Cisse?) is absolutely where he should be. He can tuck in, track back and hit on the break. Far more reliable than Obertan and HBA, he's name number 2 or 3 on the teamsheet really.

Not sure why we want him in the middle - who would start on the right in his place? And do we sacrifice the defensive honesty and hard work of Tiote, Colback and Anita to accomodate him in the middle? Not for me. I think we need another body to replace Cabaye (ideally), but can't expect Sissoko to do it. I'm always excited to see him on the right, don't understand why people lambast Pardew for this one.

Hmm I'm just going to chime in and say i think sissoko plays RM for us, and mostly for france but he did play rw in the 4-3-3 the last game group stage where they rested a few guys.

Your saying this as if he can't based on what exactly? Your scouting abilities.

He managed in for most of his career and I've seen him do well cm at international level.

He also prefers that position

He's not a right winger in my opinion but That doesn't make me an idiot nor you for seeing him as a rw.

I'm right though

I prefer cowgirl, the good lady prefers missionary, its all about being flexible to change between positions in the modern game <laugh>

Nobody really plays 451 or 433 do they. They play a hybrid of both. Players are supposed to be fit enough and savvy enough to combine both sides of the role. In this regard, if Sissoko can up his workrate a tad, he's just about perfect for the role being asked of him. Doesn't matter what role he got away with playing in France, its a different game here and he needs to be playing the role that he is best suited to here. Plenty have adapted in similar fashion.

Well three blind mice I'm entitled to prefer him a Tiote DM with Cabella De Jong and riviere in front with a good striker in font of them but it's all about previous knowledge ie more than two years.

Seeing as my good friend pulp advised me Wikipedia is right about everything I've decided to agree with him

Moussa Sissoko is a box to box midfielder

yes Moyes roles change but does pardew ever try that ?

Yes the bloke had three left backs on the pitch at one stage so at least two of them were trying new roles <laugh>
