I think the key extract from the WSC article is this: But after excerpts from the interview appeared in the English press, Svensson complained that some of his comments about Curbishley in particular had been misrepresented: “As far as Alan goes I said he was a very good manager who just needs to learn a little bit more about how to treat his players. I agree with Craving: the current story has the look of lazy press speculation.
In defence of Rene not getting a defender in for any cost - I'm interested to know when Khan actually released however much money for him to spend. If it was there from the start then Rene is to blame, but my understanding was that the money became available right at the end of the window. We've been poor defensively but I'd lay the blame for that at Jol's feet. Rene was left with Senderos and Amo as starters when Brede was out. I'd also say it's harder to bring a defender in when your struggling. Attackers know they just need to score a few and regardless of what happens they will attract attention, defenders are the ones who will bear the brunt with little opportunity to show their ability if the rest of the defence isn't functioning around them. Don't like that this is picking up more coverage, it's the last thing we need at the minute. Rene might not have done himself any favours by saying that we defend by attacking but if thats his philosophy we just have to put faith in the team absorbing it. Having Curbs or anyone else on the side undermining it isn't a positive thing.
If we go down with RM or with Curbishley, it makes no difference. We're down! If they stick wth RM, which they should do, they can appoint someone in June. If he keeps us up he can then decide if he wants to stay or we look for someone else. is it that simple?
I accept that I was being selective when quoting from the article, Captain. The point I was trying to make though was that the three very different personalities do not seem to be gelling. To that end, I'm bringing across my post from the "Formation" thread, simply because it gives a timeline for the appointment of the each of them and to emphasise my belief that those appointments have a bearing on our drop in form.
