This is one of the things that i want to to see from bruce next season, taking the cup seriously. How many times do we go out of them early, a cup run boosts the mood of everyone, and give the chance for many that have never seen safc lift a trophy to do so, me included.

....Newcastle boss Alan Pardew wants to deliver a trophy next year to end the club's 42-year wait.

The Magpies' last major domestic trophy came in the 1955 FA Cup Final, but their last year to lift any major silverware was the European Fairs Cup in 1969.

Pardew admits that any break into the top six is still some way off, despite the club being a perennial achiever in that position from the mid-90s through to the early 21st century.

Their relegation to the Championship two years ago led to a major overhaul of the financial structure at the club, but Pardew is confident that with a few shrewd additions, the club can make a cup win an achievable target.

Agree 100%, I stoped going to cup games, along with thousands of others, why?

Not because I dont want to support the team or because I dont care but because I got sick of feeling cheeted.

Being realistic...we are nowhere near good enough to challenge for the title, therefore in my opinion we should be aiming to win a cup. These days though most teams use cup games to give squad or young players a chance for a game.I HATE this! This in my opinion is why virtually no-one cares about any cup competition till they get to the last eight.Play the strongest team possible and take the cups seriously and try and win one is what I say.
