Palace was always going to be a tough one but it is unacceptable to see us leak so many goals again (and in a similar pattern to previous away games). I'm still confident of the autos, whilst we're up there we have a chance and as poor as these defeats have been if you resign yourself to not getting into the top 2 then you will miss out. The play offs would still be a great achievement from this season but our record against our fellow promotion contenders leaves a lot to be desired. The next few days will be a big test of Bruce's managerial skills in cutting out these daft goals. Plenty of work to do before Burnley but we need to get back on the saddle quickly and we are capable of that.
Palace 11 shots - 9 on target, City 12 shots - 6 on target. Also to those criticising Alex Bruce for tonight's result can they explain exactly how he alone was at fault for the 4 goals?
I've been saying this all season long, its a joke, as good a recruiter and man manager Bruce seems to be, he is completely tactically inept. It's the exact same ****e that lost him his job at Sunderland (at least he's not being so defensive here though, 4-5-1 because you're scared of the mighty Peterborough in the cup )
Our home form has improved no end just as our away form hits the skids....it's either all out attack at Burnley or we park the bus!
Ridiculous bob. A bloke who's been in the game nearly 40 years ex skipper of Man U and abloody good manager. Get yourself on Humberside with ****e like that.
He may not have been, but it's obvious hes not the best of the available.. if he's not playing in defence he's in midfield.. what can he do not to play?
Somebody on the thread made a good point in that we seem to switch off for a bit and concede a flurry of goals, something Bruce needs to work on. I'd like to see Faye back to give us a bit of clout at the back, not going to jump on the Bruce bashing bandwagon but Faye is a real unit with some presence which might help settle us a bit.
There are a lot of spineless reactionary ****s on this thread. Yes, poor result tonight and it SOUNDED like the best team won. Yes, I didn’t go to the game and have no idea how the likes of Alex Bruce played but I suppose it’s the cretinous part of human nature that always needs some sort of scapegoat. I accept we sometimes lose games. I accept and can take us getting battered too. Over the years, I’ve seen City get smashed all over the country to teams that are now non-league and still I’ve never reacted like the spotty clochards on this thread. Take defeat on the chin instead of wetting your knickers – no pride in some people.
They're all tricky in this division though. Both sides are in good form right now but we can get results in these games, we need to make sure that we stop conceding these daft goals. 4 points from those 2 games would be great.
Because he's an easy target that fits an agenda. City fans have never based boo-boy treatment on performances.
We seem to suddenly switch off, Bruce needs to make a couple of changes for Monday night. Koren was barely involved again, he put in a good shift on Saturday after a bad couple of months but needs to be consistent and play like a captain. I'd like to see Faye back in defence instead of Bruce, maybe his experience would steady the ship.
Just needs to play a more defensive midfield three when away. Fathi might become the most important player for the last ten games.
That's not even true! I do it because it's just a running joke. Every time there's a prediction thread I know people expect me to pipe up with something along the lines of, "we'll get thumped 8-0 - I know it's Leyton Orient and we're at home, but they drew their last away game 0-0". So I do. I am naturally very pessimistic though, but unfortunately a lot of ******s support Hull City and they conflate me being a bit dour with me being either a WUM, a Leeds fan, or both
I'd bring Faye back in as well. We lost collectively tonight but after conceding 10 goals in 3 matches it is a sign that the squad needs to be tweaked a bit for the next game. Faye's experience and presence could be just what we need.
Watford won, but could have easily lost to a team near the bottom of the table. There are no easy games in this league. Predicting results is a fools game.
Give it a rest, we win some, we draw some and we lose some when on tv, just the same as when we're not on tv.
