As I searched around for information before our game with Liverpool I could not find a single pundit or betting firm that gave us a chance. Following that great display it has thrown these sources into a state of disarray and confusion. Home win, Draw and Away win can all be found, but I have not found anyone predicting a high scoring match.

Crystal Palace recorded their second consecutive victory in the last round, as they surprised Brighton 0-1 away with a goal from Jordan Ayew. However, they had 3 straight losses before that, and because of their inconsistent form, they are now sitting in 12th place with 36 points. We haven’t seen so many goals in their most recent affairs, in the last 5 there were just 9 of them scored in total.

Watford are entering this clash after an amazing triumph in the previous round, where they stunned none other than invincible league leaders Liverpool 3-0 at home. They became the first team to achieve that this season, and with 3 points earned from that victory, they made it out of the relegation zone, and they are now placed 17th.

    Team News

Mamadou Sakho is closing on a return to action but Saturday’s match could come too soon for the central defender. Midfielder Jeffrey Schlupp and defender James Tomkins are ruled out while captain Luca Milivojevic is in line to return after sitting out the win against Brighton.

Winger Gerard Deulofeu is ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering an injury against Liverpool. He joins left back Daryl Janmaat as a long-term absentee for the Hornets.

Anthony Taylor will be the referee for Watford's game at Crystal Palace this weekend.
The trip to Selhurst Park will be the third game involving the Hornets this season for which Taylor has been in charge.

In both of the previous two, the 2-2 home draw with Arsenal and the 2-1 defeat to Chelsea which was also at Vicarage Road, the official has given Watford a penalty.

He will be assisted by Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn, while Darren England will be fourth official. Stuart Attwell will be on Video Assistant Referee duties and will be assisted by Stephen Child.

According to their fans we're going to kick and hack our way to a win unless the ref sends all our players off..

(With our luck regarding VAR someone probably will!)

Anyway guess Pereyra (now that is someone who won't put a foot in..) will come in for GD.

Hopefully get a win - with Deeney and Capoue scoring just to wind them up even more and Zaha get booked for diving or something!

Even the Palace fans admit he is easy to wind up..

Not forgetting van Aanholts' assault through the back of Maxi a couple of seasons ago. Dreadful challenge - two footed, calf high, through the back, on the touchline.
I was apoplectic with rage at the ref with that one - text book straight red.

I'm no good at predicting the outcome of matches - heck I never even managed to correctly predict the outcome of the Liverpool match - but I imagine that this game is one that the club are targetting as a possible three points.

On that basis, and the fact that Kiko's presence in defence makes us look a lot stronger at the back, I think Foster will extend his clean sheet record for the season to ten. As to the other end - the Deeney/Sarr pairing to weave it's magic with a goal apiece.

The Under 23s are 3-0 up against Palace .

Be handy if the first team can repeat that !

i’ve backed watford to beat palarse at 21/10 , cracking price really , i’m sure we’ll go on a run now .
Pearson is a very astute manager , very lucky he was available and willing to take the job on .

That’s spot on, and although I’m not a betting man, those odds look long. Good luck!

With the obvious RP swap for Gerry D, I think that's our strongest possible line-up.

Hello fellow Hornets & especially to BB!
Will be looking for a performance like last week and hopefully other results will go our way as most have tougher opposition so a chance to put some points between us and them.
I will check if Mr Harley Quinn has a widget or two.
    Enjoy the game all.

A narrow win for Liverpool over Bournemouth gives us the opportunity to put a bit of daylight between Bournemouth and ourselves - let's hope we grab it with both hands.

How many times have I heard Jon Marks say that he was not too sure what happened as the ball disappeared behind a stanchion?
