Vic has been great this season...I'm sure Ron won't drop him based on one poor game.

It may depend on how fit Davis is and whether so many games just after returning from injury Ward Prowse can manage in two weeks.

I think Koeman prefers Yoshida as he is more mobile against teams who knock the ball around e.g. Everton but for physical games where pace is no concern but aerial ability is crucial Gardos seems to be favoured (e.g. Stoke and Sheffield United).

Mmm. I went to Sheff Utd. There were two styles playing that day: one team knocked the ball around and were very nimble and mobile; the other played it aimlessly long and were very physical. Guess who was who?

Clue: Sheffield United weren't the team who knocked it long and physical.

Koeman talking on OS about players joining their national sides.
As well as Mayuka and Mané, Maya Yoshida will head away with Japan for the 2015 AFC Asia Cup finals, leaving Koeman without three members of his squad for much of January.
“We will have three players who will play for the national teams. Mayuka will go now this weekend because we have more players available in that position,” Koeman added.
“I spoke to the national coach of Japan and Maya will stay until after the game against Arsenal. Sadio will stay until after the game against Ipswich (in the FA Cup).”

He has. But I always worry when he is the Man of the Match. It usually signifies that other departments aren't functioning as well as they should and he is having to clear up everyone else mess.

I thought that both sides were quite physical e.g. players such as McEveley. Sheffield United may not have always been direct but they had a physical presence in my opinion, something Everton did not but Stoke certainly did :).

... now, now - Jim Steele was still playing for Dundee in 70-71.

Which is what Harry Reed does, and was, against Everton. It means they're doing their job well and restricting the other team. It usually means we win.

Sheffield were hardly direct at all and played some nice stuff. I just think it was very harsh to put them in the same bracket/sentence as Stoke.

Apart from they wore stripes :)

Dunno Lff, before my time as a Saints fan. I don`t recognise a few of them. I`m sure one of our number can oblige by naming them all.

Gerry O`Brien is third from right in the front row I think - between Ted and Channon.

That's Les Harfield, he said smugly. (Had to go and look it up).

John McGrath. An old fashioned footballer if ever there was one.
