Bielsa was asked for his thoughts on conceding 8 goals in two games, he points out Liverpool and Fulham and says it’s 15 goals in 4. He is then asked about the disallowed goal, he replies he never discusses a referees decision. Asked about the Keeper being young and conceding so many goals, is Bielsa concerned about his confidence he replied no, despite conceding so many he is playing well.
For the most part Meslier has been playing well thankfully. God knows how many we’d be conceding with Kiko in goals
VAR was introduced because useless ****s like Mike Dean couldnt get it right on the pitch in the first place, so, the FA in their wisdom gave the moron the job of watching the game from a nice warm office with every angle and slo mo available and the piece of **** still cant get it right. Time to scrap it and get better referees on the pitch Oh and sack that **** Dean immediately
I had to stay off the forum yesterday Olof because I was fuming. Sick of VAR. It's sterilising the game of football. Infact in a way I'd rather be back in the Championship. Palace weren't worthy of a 4.1 win.
Agree with you and it’s not a knee jerk to yesterday’s farcical decision. Always hated VAR. It is killing the game as a spectacle, the most successful sport bar none and the most watched league in the world. Sucks the fun out when a goal goes in because now we’re never sure if it will count. If there is going to be a balls up, I’d rather the ref on the pitch makes it and let the game flow than some knob in a studio getting it wrong. Premier league are in danger of forgetting what made this league so watchable.
Agreed on all counts. The VAR setup is being used in the wrong way. It should never make a decision for the referee. Their maximum power should be to call the ref to the telly, where he can reassess for himself. The ref should have absolute decision-making power in these situations. I really felt it with Bamfords 'goal' yesterday. In the old days, you'd get your disappointment pretty quick with the lino's flag. Not now - they like to prolong your joy to ultimately elicit much deeper depths of sorrow than you'd ever suffer with the old lino's flag. When I was still working, I'd have been fired asap if I made one of those type of obvious mistakes, especially if I was over-ruling the guy who was supposed to be in charge - i.e. my boss. Time for a massive re-think or complete abolition.
On another note, don’t usually want Spurs to win but could use them keeping West Brom seven points behind us
Ratings from me after some time to mull over yesterdays performance. Meslier - 4 - Partially at fault for the 1st and 3rd goal although slow reactions that was a horrid deflection. Almost kept out the 4th. On another day none of those goals go in however they've all hit the wrong side of the post excluded the 3rd. Not deserving some of the **** he's getting for his performance yesterday. Ayling - 4 - Not as good as getting forward yesterday and kept having stray passes. The way we play we can't afford to lose possession so easily. Not the only player guilty of this yesterday and Monday. Koch - 3 - Worst performance of the season so far. Should have got his head on the 1st and poor tackle for the 2nd. Whole defence went missing for the 4th. Cooper - 4 - Not much better than Koch but I don't think he was directly involved in any of the goals. Needs to be more commanding and more of a captain like he's been the last few seasons. I think he could have also got his head on the 1st but think Dann was Koch's man. As said previously not sure what happened with 4th. Alioski - 5 - Good display from this man. Good squad player and a nice player to have when we have these injures. Got about quite a lot, defended well and almost had a goal. Struijk - 4 - Looked more comfortable than against Villa but didn't protect the back line as much as Phillips does. Will be a player though and has a good eye for a pass. Think he could actually take the LCB spot eventually. Might end up of a back 2 of Koch or Llorente and Struijk by the end of the season. Costa - 5 - Some good defending but non existent in the final 3rd. 8 games with 2 goals and 2 assists isn't too bad but needs to show more for me. His place to lose. Klich - 7 - Wouldn't normally give a 7 for a defeat but head and shoulders above the rest of his midfielder team mates at the moment. Has a special quality, makes great runs even when he doesn't receive the ball to open up defences, can pick out passes others can't and should've had 2 assists. Can't wait until Rodrigo and Raphinha are working alongside him. Dallas - 5 - Didn't get into the game as much and never does as a CM but didn't do anything wrong, he just isn't as creative and intelligent as Klich in that position. He's best placed as a LB or RB and solid when he does play there. Harrison - 4 - Very frustrating player. Decision making was awful and keeps hold of the ball for far too long sometimes. Irritating when he doesn't pass when he has the opportunity but then he gets closed down by 2 or 3 players so the opportunity to pass has gone. Can do good defensive work but didn't see as much of that from him today but nothing came down his or Alioski's side so a job well done on that front. Only 1 goal and 2 assists this season so needs to dramatically improve this or again like Costa it is his place to lose with two very good players in Poveda and Raphinha waiting in the wings. Bamford - 7 - Not as much hold up play but scored two very good goals. Yes he misses chances but whoever plays up front for Leeds will miss chances and we need to get used to that. Can't think of another player that could do what he does with his pressing that scores goals. 7 this season and should be 8. Needs the midfield to help out with goals and he deserves better from the defence. Subs: Raphinha - 6 - Looked good without doing loads. Turned a couple of players, made some good passes and looks an intelligent player. Close with the freekick too. He'll be a starter soon so Harrison and Costa need to keep him out. Roberts - 3 - Doesn't add anything to the team. Would've preferred to see Poveda come on. I don't think it'll be long before Gelhardt gets into the squad over him. If we can get up to 10 million for him, take it and run.
Not true shaks... There will always be room for the oiks & the plebs to pay for the privilege of creating the atmosphere. Sometimes they bring additional benefits of putting on a free pie or beer throwing show whilst scuffling amongst themselves for our delectation as well. It's win win and as far as I can see and everyone is happy with the arrangement
Just read Rule 11 from the FA's own website and NO interpretation of the rule could Bamfords goal be deemed offside Question is what are the FA going to do about it, I won't hold my breath The FA are only too happy to penalise players in retrospect They should, in my opinion give us the goal alright the match result would be the same Mike Dean should face some kind of sanction VAR has ruined the game it was set up with good intentions but as per usual idiots like dean ruin those good intentions. You cannot score a goal using you arm/hand so your arm/hand cannot be offside what is so complicated about that. No matter which team was involved the decision was just plain wrong and should not be laid to rest. For what it's worth I would still think the same if CP had had a goal disallowed in the same circumstances
Someone from Leeds obviously buttfucked Dean at some point. He maybe a decent human being but as a ref or var official he is a complete ****er. Nothing more to add.
You're spot on Shako, i was gonna say something like that in my comment, the idiots in charge are spoiling the game as a spectacle and sterilising the game, Look at Bamfords penalty appeal yesterday and Mo Salahs last week, its a ****ing joke, i'd rather have a ref make an honest mistake than have an incompetent twat like Dean spoiling the game
