We've already had Man City, Man U and Spurs. We'll play Liverpool this month. Meaning with 10 games left we'll only have Arsenal, Chelsea and possibly Everton that we won't expect to take anything from....7 out of 10 games against our direct rivals. Get 9-11 points this month and we'll have 30-32 points going into those 10 games....we'll just have to average a point a game to guarantee survival. The only period in the Premier League when we weren't averaging that was during our recent run of 8 (where 6 of the 8 were against the top 7). The only team in the bottom half we've lost to this season, having played them all once (Fulham x 2), was Cardiff. It would take a catastrophic decline in form not to get to 40.
After 2 games the mini table looks like this; 6 - Sunderland 4 - West Ham 3 - Swansea, Fulham, Cardiff, Palace, Stoke and Villa 1 - West Brom, Norwich and Hull 0 - Fulham
We're on a roll now starting Saturday , 3 points nothing less Cardiff (H) - (Saturday the 8th of February, 5.30pm) 3 points Stoke (A) - (Wednesday the 12th of February, 7.45pm) 3 points Liverpool (A) - (Sunday the 23rd of February, 1.30pm) 1 point Crystal Palace (H) - (Sunday the 2nd of March, 4.30pm) 3 points = 10 points
After 3 games 7 - West Ham 6 - Swansea, Sunderland and Palace 4 - Stoke and Hull 3 - Cardiff and Aston Villa 2 - Norwich 1 - West Brom and Fulham.
Updated OP. West Ham are doing incredibly well from a tough set of fixtures. I thought they would struggle. Perhaps the return of their rock Winston Reid was the decisive factor rather than the return of Andy Carroll (although he made a significant contribution against us)
Re: West Ham - three consecutive wins, who predicted that. What a barmy season this is! Realistically, barring more barminess, we should be back up to tenth with a point or three against stoke.
13 - West Ham 7 - Swansea and Hull 6 - Sunderland and Palace (both have 1 game in hand) 5 - Stoke and Norwich 4 - Villa and Cardiff 3 - West Brom 2 - Fulham
As you said, 10th....we've got to beat Palace at home now. If we do we'll be going into the last 10 games (7 of which are very winnable) needing only 9 points to reach 40. Maybe West Ham are a decent side now their injury crisis is easing....like us
13 - West Ham 7 - Swansea and Hull 6 - Sunderland and Palace (both have 1 game in hand) 5 - Stoke and Norwich 4 - Villa and Cardiff 3 - West Brom 2 - Fulham
If Laudrup had still been in charge... 13 - West Ham 7 - Hull & Stoke & Cardiff 6 - Sunderland and Palace (both have 1 game in hand) 5 - Norwich 4 - Villa 3 - Swansea & West Brom 2 - Fulham A big thank you to Garry Monk.
What a tonne of steaming ****...we'll never know will we!!! Throughout the season he'd only lost twice to teams outside the top 8...5 of the 6 games were games like this.. What an utterly stupid post.
Anything to stick the knife in Terror, load of bollocks, you know it, I know it, they fail to accept it. Lets just leave them to their simplistic approach to everything, they will soon be calling for monks head.
Terror - I'm just predicting like you told me to. That's what I predict would have happened if Laurdup was still here. But you're right - we'll never know. But surely you can see the difference in our play since Monk took over - even the players are saying it. Anyway, don't take it so seriously - my comment was meant in fun.
