My Mrs persuaded me that we should try one a few years back so we booked one round the eastern Med, starting in Rome and going to Turkey, mainland Greece and the Greek islands. We were both bored after the first night/day, which was all at sea. Stop offs were generally okay. If we thought there was something interesting to see we would book either ships tours (Athens, Olympia) or individual ones (Ephesus) but other two stops (Santorini & Mykonos) we just wandered around. My advice: - make sure you book a decent room/suite with a window and some living space - check the ship has a decent satellite internet link or it can be frustrating - the standard food gets boring as **** after the same things every meal. Book a few of the pay extra restaurants to keep it interesting. - keep out of the Casino - seasickness generally isn't an issue as they are big and stable ships - they tend to rush the last leg home and if its a bit choppy can be quite interesting. I went running on the treadmill in the gym and was having difficulty staying on. As we were so bored onboard we ended up going to shows (boring), quizzes (good fun), auctions (expensive) and ended up spending a heap of money onshore as well.
