I hope I'm proved wrong, but, this doesn't look like that it will have a happy ending.

It hopefully will end in a somewhat happy ending, when the ****er who did it gets brutally beaten to death in prison.

My 16 year old daughter is now at school daarrrnnn saarrff doing her A levels. We live overseas. I'm pretty chill with everything to do with her being away from home for the first time (although I miss her dreadfully) but when she goes up town to London for whatever reason (not partying however as that's all done locally in controlled environments - I may be kidding myself here however...) this is the one thing that gets me a bit on edge, young girl wandering around in the big wide world, even be it not alone. But they have to grow up. If I said anything to my wife about my slight edginess, she'd yank her back on the first plane.

I pray for a happy ending to this story in our fair city but I fear for the worse, I hope I'm wrong.

So much for accepting the appeal for non-speculation. Not too smart is a mild comment.

If he is a Polish butcher it isn't speculation.

Have they? The last thing thing I saw was, they where appealing for the media and people on social media not to speculate on identity of the person arrested as it may compromise the investigation.

Are you answering my question ? Did they state that in the Humberside police announcement ? I don't have access to the source .

This speculation about it being a Polish butcher brings back horrible memories of someone I know well Gloria Beilby, whose husband was a butcher and they never did find her,

I've just checked the latest Humberside Police releases and there's no mention of a name, so we'll continue to respect their request not to share it.

Despite everyone knowing who it is that has been arrested?

Seems a bit pointless when his name has already been in national circulation for 24 hours.

It's normal for the Police to not reveal the name unless releasing said name would aid an investigation - at this point, as they have already arrested this person and are questioning him, they don't need to or have to release the name until all avenues of information at this point have been spent.

Also - what if it turned out this person was innocent? Does that person deserve the **** they will get, possibly for the rest of their lives, because their name was released by the people who are supposed to keep them safe?

Like Cliff Richard and politicians who were later cleared? The police invited the TV to see them searching their property without and charges even pending.

And the Police rightly got destroyed for doing that, and as a result they seem to have learned from that, at least in this particular case.
