It's weird they've been trying to reform County Cricket for the last 30 years - I remember Ian MacLaurin trying to get them all to agree to a 3 conference system, similar to the NHL back in the 90s
The problem is that red ball cricket has been pushed to the back of the queue by the 100, T20 and even the one day cup.
If cricket really wants a future around the globe they need to ditch 50 over cricket and play T20 and red ball/tests only. Get proper windows in the calendar that allow the best players to play all formats (where applicable) and stop overlapping competitions where you have counties playing a bunch of kids like Man Utd used to in the League Cup.

Make the games meaningful and align them with the test summer - let the test players play for their counties in the run up to the test summer. Play the County Championship alongside the test summer, so you have players fit and ready to go should form and fitness dictate a change to the test team. Once the tests are out the way, start the white ball season and if you really, really have to, include the daft 100 in their too.

This current schedule is unsustainable

Looks like some very tight bowling from Yorkshire, just going off the economy rates. Creating good pressure.

A county championship if three "conferences" of 6 teams where you play each other home and away, makes sense to me. The top teams in each league play off to determine who's champion. The teams finishing second do the same and so on and so on to determine the overall rankings. It should make the league more competitive and give more meaningful matches.
