I don’t think he’s a bad player. He’s short of form and confidence. The run out of Lees was shocking yesterday. He starts running, says nothing and stands and looks at Lees who is about 3 yards away. If he’d kept going he’d likely have made it. Much more likely than Lees having to turn to get back.
He has quality. Just maybe needs a positive mindset to get him back.
He probably will, and rightly so, but the thought of Butler at No 2, mad as it seems, sets the pulses racing.
This was test match cricket but not as we know it. Bloody fantastic.
