Should be clear by one. Early lunch, add the hour on later. Won't miss much, though I seriously doubt it will take all day anyway, especially with clouds about

Toothless in attack and we need to get Archer up to speed for the Ashes.
For Lords i would drop Carse for Archer and Bethel in for Pope.
The only reason I say Carse instead of Woakes is for the batting.

Woakes really can't play now. He is just so toothless it loads pressure onto others.

The Duke balls hardly swing now at all. They have been made in India for years, but in the last five years or so the quality has slowly declined. Woakes without swing is a non starter.

They should try John Turner or Josh Hull. Inexperienced, but that's the way it is these days. County Cricket is a poor prep, so let's have a look.

Talking about poor prep and Duke balls I really don't understand why in County cricket they are using Kookaburra balls in random trials in prep for the Ashes.
When the Test side don't use them.

Archer should be nowhere near an England call up. Simply not played enough red ball cricket to be fit enough.

send him back to championship cricket to get some overs in the legs before coming back later in the summer.

I agree but if he's in the squad. I think it was Nasser on comms said he could play at Lords.

Interesting comment. Second innings I agree, but first innings he had 4 very good LBW shouts not given. All umpires calls. All, according to ball tracking, hitting more of the stumps than 4 LBWs Gutenberg when we batted!

O know it’s umpires call for that reason, but if they’re all given, that game probably goes a different way.

Fair enough. But he really isn't getting better, and he certainly won't be going to Australia where his record is awful. Great player mind in his pomp, but it shows you how lacking we are in experience that he still gets picked.

Agree. In Oz we need 3 fast seamers, fit and ready to go. My choice would be Atkinson,Archer and Wood.....but it's a moot point if we can get them all fit and keep them fit. No point in taking them if they're going to break down during their second spell at the Gabba. They won't take Robinson,so we're left with who.....Tongue,Potts,Carse,Stone,Cook? Hardly inspiring.
As for the batting,I said it earlier on before Headingley...I'd be seriously worried about Crawley and Pope....and would be looking to get Bethell in there somewhere asap.

Oh I don’t disagree, but he’s the only England bowler who got the ball to move in that test! He’s moowhere near quick enough fir Australia

…after day 2. Only going to be one winner in that one!
