Big credit to Nottinghamshire:

Post update
I mentioned this in the middle of all the Jonny Bairstow carnage but credit again to Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club for letting everybody in free today.

They aren't due to host a Test match next summer. These counties survive and expand on revenue from hosting international cricket so it would have been a difficult decision, but the place was absolutely electric in that final hour and a half after tea. Hopefully today has introduced a new group of people to cricket and they have been fallen in love with our beautiful sport.

Not kidding myself that ever test will be like that and of course there will be collapses, but suddenly the top 7 almost picks itself. I'm still not convinced by Crawley, but if he can get a score in the 3rd test then every player in the top 7 has contributed and deserves their spot.

Not sure about bowling options. Potts is 2 places too high at 8. I'd be tempted to play 4 seamers and use Root as the spinner until such time as we have a decent spinner

Shame that, he looked a real talent. Seems to have been missing for ages

Started really well, you get people with that much pace very often
Your right he seems to have been missing for a long time after they tried to ‘manage the bowlers work load’ they’ve had more injuries than ever

I wonder if they tried to change his bowling action and his body didn't like it. Stress fractures are from twisting and turning I think, maybe they wanted to change it a bit for him

What's happened to Archer? He looked quality

He was badly over bowled by Root a couple of times.

But Archer had played little first class cricket so the demands would have been a shock to him. He should only ever have been used in short three or four over spells.

As for the England set up. It has ruined more fast bowlers than it hasn't down the years.

I doubt Archer will ever play test cricket again. Not totally convinced he's in love with the red ball and can make 10 times his money playing franchise cricket
