I agree, I think Bairstow is here till the end. Hoping he gets some form back.

Foakes I don't think ever gets in unless there is a huge rethink

Agree on both counts. I think there are big changes coming in this team in the next 12-18 months. So many of them are wrong side of 30, going to be interesting to see if there is any succession planning or are they going to go the same way the Aussies did in 2007-2011

It seems to. As commentators are constantly correcting themselves when calling a make “batter” a batsman. Heard them actually apologise for calling them a batsman.
Who apologised? Do you mean "I'm sorry for calling them a batsman" or do you mean "the batsmen, sorry batter has scored a run"

I see those clowns at the ECB are drawing up plans to scrap the Hundred and the Vitality Blast and replace it with a franchised T20 (i.e. what they should have done in 2020 when the White Elephant that was the Hundred was announced)

I hope they get off to a great start tomorrow against them because those who payed today were magnificent against them who were deemed to be the best. Well done them today and all the best to them tomorrow.

Haway the thems.

I read with huge amusement and not a little incredulity, Khawaja's comments about the crowds in England going "too far" with their abuse.....

.....err.....maybe spend an afternoon fielding on the boundary at the Gabba as a visiting player Usman. See what you think then.....

Classic bully-turned-coward approach from the whinging aussies

Need an early one or two here. Looks a better of a pitch to me this. Lovely carry .

Can't remember many teams bowling first and winning here. Could do with it clouding over!

Moeen “slips” as he tries to get up to chase a ball. We used to have lads in our side who were experts at that “slip so I don’t have to chase it” technique!!

Pitch doesn't look as quick as Headingley - Wood bowling at 93Mph and the batters seem to have plenty time to play him

Not quite as quick, but looks a good one to bat on if it's clear skies.

Normally pace needed at OT though and some spin. Never really been a swing bowlers paradise, even for Jimmy at his best.

It is really highly comical.

But of course it doesn't matter. Nothing wrong with " batter" or just "bat" as used to be said sometimes, or "batsman" as has been used for over 250 years.

But the fanatics never rest. They have decided it must only and always and forever be batter, for several nutcase reasons, none of which need repeating here again.

So for me, it will now only ever be batsmen, or batsman.

.
The women's game has grown massively and is getting huge crowds. The same commentators are working across both games, so why make then say batsman and batswoman - nothing wrong with using batter as a generic term and certainly not as conspiratorial as you are suggesting
