Superb ton from Jonny and excellent support from Foakes, Woakes dropped on 0 could prove costly. Awful wicket for the West Indies , so slow. Will our attack be able to take wickets, with Woakes overseas record he really needs to put in a shift when we bowl.

Woakes is a ****ter overseas and always has been, Leach is **** and hardly spins the ball, Overton at best is a 4th bowler and Wood hasn't got conditions to suit , and is used in short bursts. Stokes isn't fully fit to bowl which leaves the team selection profoundly dumb. Add to this that Root is an incompetent captain and your ****ed ! Nothing seems to have changed. This was the Windies highest opening partnership since 2019 v England in Antigua, why am I not surprised.

This series should've been all about trying out untaped talent and blooding some youngsters. Yes Lees has been given a chance at the top of the batting but the bowling is farcical. Wood is quality but injury prone and can't carry the attack on his own, if your going to omit our 2 greatest fast bowlers then give their places to 2 untried bowlers who could be the future not 2 that aren't ever gonna fill their spots. Woakes is in cos we can't get enough runs and hopefully he can add some not on his bowling abroad which is atrocious. Leach, well just isn't a test quality spinner, so why not give Parkinson or another some test experience ? The sooner they appoint Langer the better

Woakes is good in home conditions but has never performed well once away from home, he's continually picked though because he can add some runs even though teams have now realised he's hopeless against the short ball. In Test cricket unless you've already won a series , you should be picking your best available 11 every single game. Personally I think the treatment of Anderson and Broad over the last 2 years has been diabolical and disgraceful. The Australians would never dream of treating their truly great players in such fashion.
