The only 2 pluses to come out of this tour are at least Lees looks like he values his wicket and should get another go at opening and Mahmood who will probably now be dropped ! The rest can hang their heads in shame. It's all very well getting 500 on a road but as soon as there's anything in the wicket we can't score ****. Root has to go as captain he's tactically inept and lacks the motivational skills, there isn't one member of the managerial and backroom staff that deserves to stay on. ECB and Strauss need to pull their fingers out their arses and appoint Langer now !
Yep. We are trying to turn it back to 2005. ****ing hell, I’ve just found out that England have a batting coach. His name is Marcus Trescothick. Next you’ll be telling me we have a manager and a captain as well!
England women lose 2 early wickets in crucial must win game in the World Cup. Exceptionally windy conditions in Kiwi land today
2 more wickets in 2 overs now. Sciver out for 40 big blow. Going at a snails pace apart from her. 96-4 off 26. Slow wicket and no pace from the bowlers, England have to get to a target that will put Bangladesh under pressure
234-6. Strange innings, no real impetus until the final 5 overs. Superb 67 from Dunkley, first World Cup a real find she's quality. Should be enough but need some early wickets to apply pressure on them.
Bangladesh all out for 134, England win by 100 runs and go into the Semi finals. India have posted 274 against South Africa so if South Africa get to 174 then England will finish 3rd on net run rate and avoid playing Australia in the Semi's.
A complete embarrassment. Root is a terrible captain and must go. Let him concentrate on his batting. All the back room staff must go. We need a radical clear out. Could be a very long road away from the bottom of the test rankings.
But who would you make captain. Stokes has only just got over some issues Is anyone else guaranteed to play?
Not sure, but Root is terrible as a captain with poor tactical decisions and leadership. Stokes is probably next on the rank, but then making him captain may turn him to ****, as often happens.
I heard talk of Ricky Ponting being made coach. If there was any ex player whom would be best suited to achieve, it would be him. I think that would be a very good call. Whatever the team is thinking now, needs to change. Ponting has that winning mentality about him, has a very good cricket brain and will get the team thinking in other ways. That is what must be done first up. The mindset must change. Only an outsider could achieve as such. Anyway, just my two bobs worth.
Yep. Root seems to be completely lacking of any self awareness. He's been a very poor captain, admittedly in charge of a very poorly performing team. It's hard to believe that some of these players can be so good most of the time in limited overs and yet so disastrously bad in test cricket.
Possibly down to Morgan's leadership ? This side just look like rabbits in the headlights once the wickets start to tumble, if there's anything in the wicket you just simply can't see us getting 200. In the field we look a beaten team and that has to come down to leadership and spirit. Root has had more than enough time to change things round and all we've achieved is being bottom of the test rankings. Totally time for a complete change, I'd be flabbergasted if we don't appoint Langer and seriously pissed off. As far as captains go, Billings is easily the most tactically astute but it would mean freeing up a space to accommodate him. He can also keep wicket but surely that would be too much pressure so who to out ? Pointless appointing Broad or Anderson now , with both their careers nearing their end plus they are both too single minded and headstrong. The next coach and backroom staff has a massive job on their hands !
