Jesus wept. Just when you thought it couldn't get any more humiliating. Scott Boland, a journeyman whose selection was supposed to be a one-off, has taken 6 wickets for 7 runs. For ****s' sake.
Thought it was a superb effort for anyone yet alone a player on debut. Well done to him. He breaks a hundred year old record.
You would have thought this team had hit a low in the first two tests. They have really surpassed themselves in this one.
SW, I tend to think the problem lies in the advice and direction of the management & coaching staff. They are supposed to be the backbone of the team, giving advice and guidance to the younger team members ( ie being the players ). Just my two bobs worth. ( and l would say the same about any national team )
60/5 to 68 all out! **** me! Disasterly embarrassing! A complete re-think needed, and a complete clear out of all staff and players.
Just seen an interview with Root. He said all the PC stuff, must learn, do better, do it for the badge. You know in his position there would have been blood on the shirt, a couple of scuffed knuckles and anger, you know real pi55ed off kicking sh!t out of somebody anger, but maybe that's just me?
Cricket fella on the news said back in the day England knew they would lose because Australia had 10 great players (Warne & Co) however this Aussie team isn’t great and we didn’t show up. Only positive Is a complete re think and shake up when they return.
Embarrassing display out there, couldn’t even make the 81 to avoid an innings defeat, after watching highlights there was no fight, too much one day stuff in the English game here & that new format of the 100 overs might be exciting but hasn’t done the test players much good
I don't think a clear-out of coaches and players is necessarily going to change much. If we're to succeed in Test cricket, the whole structure of the English game needs to change, with the emphasis moved back towards the four-day game and away from all the short form stuff. But then, the money's in the one-day stuff, so it's highly unlikely to happen.
Too right Strolls. They said it would happen as they expanded the shorter game for the money. The ability to stay in, when the going gets tough is gone. Today it’s about how fast and hard you can hit the ball to get runs quickly. It’s a big ask to switch to the longer game and expect the complete tactical package that the 5-day Test is meant to be all about. I’m not saying I want to watch a Boycott innings every Test, but sometimes you need to hold out or build slowly to get a good score. We just aren’t able to do that now.
It's hard to imagine anyone, in any sport, being further out of their depth than this pillock. Abject surrender. Complete embarrassment. Strip Root of the captaincy as he is not good enough in that department. Let him concentrate on his world class batting. Obviously clear out all the backroom staff. Bring in some youngsters with potential and fresh coaches. Obviously, one day cricket takes a lot of the blame, but the Aussies seem to have coped ok. What a joke our test team has become.
