Limited bowling options, missed chances and a questionable first innings declaration have cost us there. The Aussies showed they most certainly had the minerals, despite doubts by some that they could.
Commiserations HB. England was really unlucky as they played a terrific game to come away with a loss. But they showed a lot of grit even when there were only a handful of runs to go. They fielded with determination and can hold their heads up high. A match for the ages. Cliche, sure, but very apt.
Aussie Lyon roars louder than England's Three Lions. Great match to start series. Hope the rest are just as good. Not decided yet if this match is an example. Better luck next time fellas. But only a smidgen.
Khawaja, M.O.T.M. Deservedly. Cummins a close second imho. Stokes not far behind. Good decision making in the field and almost bowled England to win. Just one bad decision in declaring early 1st innings, I think. Another 20-30 runs would have been decisive, especially mentally.
A great Test match, which neither side really deserved to lose. We did lose it though, so well played Australia. No point moaning about 'we should have done this', or why didn't we do that?'. We lost this game, but there are four more to play.
