First test was off to a good start, NZ won the toss and put us into bat, amassed 325 - 9 Dec in 58 overs, Brook's 89 & Duckett 84. Put NZ into bat under the lights they are 37-3 at the close, 2 for Jimmy & 1 for Robbo.
Jimmy went for 10 runs off his 7 overs. Don't know how he keeps on doing it!
Day night tests just don't work in test cricket, too much assistance in that 3rd session under lights creates an imbalance between bat and ball
Well, we wrapped the first test up will little fuss today, quite astonishing the number of wins since Baz/Ben took over. It just goes to show what a change in mindset can do.
They are reinventing the game. Scoring rates are incredible. I see they have now introduced a ‘Nighthawk’ rather than a night watchman

there has only been one first innings declaration in tests after fewer overs. this was in 1974 in england in a three test series with pakistan. in the second test, pakistan declared after 44.5 overs on 130/9. deadly derek underwood had taken 5 for 20. england replied with 270 before bowling pakistan out for 226. underwood took 8 for 51, giving him match figures of 13 for 71. england reached 27/0, needing only 87, but the final day was washed out, resulting in a draw. the first test had been much the same - england needed 45 more runs with 4 wickets left the end of the fourth day, but the weather prevented play on day 5. the third test was played in bat-all-day conditions with the two first innings producing 1145 runs and the third draw of the series.

Eng v Pak in the women's T20 WC is really worth watching, Eng batting and playing bazball!
Eng 213 from their 20 overs, thoroughly entertaining. I was hoping for a couple more wickets then we could have seen both Sciver-Brunts batting together, that would have been a world first!
