Got it. They won the informal competition prior to 1890, but never the official one, despite WG GraceGloucestershire?...
Nah, they re second only to Yorkshire I think, won it more than Middx. Not Surrey surely?

I saw Wayne Daniel, of all people, hit a six like a Bryson DeChambeau equipment and steroid assisted drive at Lords sometime around 76/77 I think, no idea who Middlesex were playing. The ball started off parallel to the ground but started going up as it neared the boundary and hit about halfway up the Tavern Stand. A couple of years later I was at university with Simon ‘the Analyst’ Hughes, who was a colt at Middx at the time of the Daniel hit and in the ground. He said that the shot was an instant legend for all those who saw it.....sadly very few of us.Looking forward to going to one or two County games in the Summer. Lord's is probably my favourite sporting venue of all, but not so great when empty, so maybe Middlesex at Uxbridge and a Surrey game at the Oval.

Middx have always been the county I've kind of 'supported'. Having been born there it seemed the natural choice.

In 2008 England paired a couple of strike bowlers for the first time in a test against New Zealand. Called Anderson and Broad. What happened to them?
I imagine Broad would not have started if Archer had been available. Anderson is just a freak. Spinners and gaps in batting of more concern than pace bowlers for me.Not sure if it's a good thing or bad thing that they are still opening the bowling......does it suggest a genuine lack of quality coming through?
