Why would we have handed India more than enough time to bat themselves in properly and chase down a winning score? Considering what this Indian team has just done in Australia?

That's a very good point, plus this Indian team always back themselves to chase down runs and are more than good enough to do it.
First hour tomorrow is huge.
We must get a couple of early wickets then to have the best chance of winning imo.

All England's decisions yesterday completely vindicated after taking 5 wickets in the morning session.
Fantastic from Anderson, reversing it like a boomerang.
Archer giving Ashwin a good going over too.
144-6 at lunch.

I like Leach. It’s nice that in an era of such sport science and athleticism there’s still a place for a guy who looks like an actuary.

Great result. Fantastic team win and great way to start the series. Way to go. Will be a very interesting second test.
What is interesting is how many professionals/ex-professionals are giving them 10/10 for the match. Don’t remember hearing that in any sport in recent times. High praise indeed. Well done to Joe and all the team.

Well I was wrong about the follow on, and that’s a great win in a very difficult place to get any kind of result, let alone a convincing win.

Really sets the series up perfectly, India really won’t have enjoyed that and have the talent to come back hard, as they showed in Oz.

Got to be a bucket list item for me to follow England in India.

Yeah, me too.
Always had a soft spot for the Indian people and I'd love to go.

Superb from England all match.
Root imperious.
Anderson is a genius.
Leach bowled well and is far, far better than Bess, who benefited from a spinner friendly wicket and some lucky dismissals, but doesn't look good enough at this level imo.
Fantastic win and sets up the series nicely.
India are bound to come back hard.

Not necessarily wrong about the follow-on - we might well have won by an innings - but Root's decisions fully vindicated by the outcome.

Six consecutive wins away from home is very impressive.

I wonder whether the lack of crowds has helped England away from home?
It's clearly made a difference in football.

That's not to take anything away from England who are, in my opinion, a top class spinner away from being one of the best test teams.
Mind you, the way they're going, they may achieve that anyway.

Great win for England. You just have to marvel at how Jimmy Anderson just keeps producing such performances. His fitness levels allied to his skill are incredible, the only problem is he will leave a huge hole when he retires that will be so difficult to fill but we'll enjoy him while we can...
