Veteran Blackcaps bowler Tim Southee's nine-wicket haul has led New Zealand to a stunning 10-wicket win against India.
Rested for the final test against Australia last month, Southee bounced back in style at Wellington's Basin Reserve, rolling through the Indians twice in four days.
Following his 4/49 in the first innings, Southee took four wickets on the final day's play to finish with 5/61 in the second, giving him match figures of 9/110.
India's meek effort of 191 left New Zealand with just nine runs to score for a 1-0 series lead.
Tom Blundell (1) and Tom Latham (7) got them home in just 10 balls to seal the Blackcap's 100th test win.
India started the day with hopes of batting through the 90 overs, but when Trent Boult (4/39) had Ajinkya Rahane caught behind for 29, New Zealand pounced on the tourists' lower order.
Southee dismissed Hanuma Vihari (15) and Ravi Ashwin (4), before Colin de Grandhomme trapped Ishant Sharma leg before wicket for 12.
Southee needed just three balls to finish off the world's top-ranked test side, sending Rishabh Pant on his way for 25, before Daryl Mitchell took a blinding slip catch to remove Jasprit Bumrah for a duck.
The Blackcaps also scored 60 world test championship points, but trail second-placed Australia by 176 points, with the top two playing off in the final next year.
