One of the kids in my class brought up the clowns today so we had to have a whole class chat about how there's nothing to worry about. Some of them were terrified before I labelled the clowns "some idiot trying to get famous."

Am I wrong in thinking that kids are more easily terrified than years ago?

I think even when you were a child Castro, back when everything was all fields, a ****er with a scary clown face wielding a machete, jumping out in front of you at night, may have made your heart rate increase even a few beats.

Perhaps. But these terrified kids hadn't had someone with a scary clown face wielding a machete jump out at them st night. They were sat in a brightly lit classroom talking about them.

Our lass is a teacher of 5ish year olds. She just told me some of the kids in her class have been in tears because they've seen the news that killer clowns are after them.

Just goes to show how the young uns see and believe things we know the actual meaning of. I mean we all know that 'killer clowns' aren't exactly killer clowns. Bloody press eh?!

Saying all that, I did piss myself when she told me. I grew up with the likes of Ghostwatch, flesh eating bugs in the news and nightmares of Davros and the Daleks!

Today's molly coddled little ****s need a good scare or two. Never did me any harm.

    Wibble.

They didn't experience the terror of Quatermass in the fledgling days of television when nothing like that had been seen before. Kids a lot older than that were packed off to bed. Now now it looks like a comedy.

We hired Boxo the clown for my sons 1st birthday.

Can't recall much has about his clowning abilities to be honest.

It was the hottest day I can ever remember, I just sat at the end of my garden drinking ice cold Staropramen with my mates until I couldn't stand up.

I think I heckled Boxo at one point.

Her indoors wasn't overly chuffed but lets face it these things happen.

    Clown faced mother ****er.

It was. A bigger impact, with everything new, than anything could be now, Hard for younger folk to understand the impact when you went suddenly from a world with no televisions to seeing things like that in your living room.
    An exciting time.

    Smiley faced mofos.

But look closely. The smiles aren't real.

    They're painted on.

Generally the hypocritical bastards are scowling.

    There's laws in this country.

I've never known why they don't seem to apply to these sour-faced disguise monkeys.
