I can't really comment on Chelsea, but our first team and their replacements are good enough (not great but good). The layer under that I'm not so sure about. The only real problem area for us is central midfield and replacing Rio (andIMO maybe getting in a RB thats not injury prone or replace Evra as he hasn't been his best for some time).
Fergie brought through his 'fledglings' along with established players and as much as i hate to say it they were superb, but theres no way way since then that he has ever had as strong a squad as that. And its obvious as you point out that in key areas of the first choice team he needs replacements, but the youth coming through(and those hes bought)as a whole are'nt good enough imo.
We have had a stronger squad since then but we've never had that many quality players come through in one go like that before. One thing people forget though, is that other than Giggs, the others were around 20 when they started to be a regular in the side. We also got rid of more established players because they were deemed ready. Football now and then is very different. When you have had Chelsea and City pour in millions for instance success, it has changed the landscape. Regardless, I think our first and second string is good. Just lacking something special in the middle to be great.
Funny really , a Leeds fan trying to wind up man u fans... Leeds are just pissed off that they will NEVER be a big club though there deluded supporters think they are.. I am NOT a man u fan , not by a long way but fact is no other club in the UK can match what they have achieved in the last 20 years..
Compare and contrast the vague "let's try and look happy expression" from that pic with the unbridled joy at the PL win last year and I think you'll see the list of priorities for the players: please log in to view this image This. Heck we didn't even play our second choice line up last night (no Lindegaard, Jones, Carrick, Fletcher, Welbeck) although a fair bit of that was due to injuries. But credit to Palace, they played very well, took their chances and kept us largely contained for a fair bit of the match. I know it's been said before, but hopefully this will finally convince SAF that players like Gibson are just wasting space for us and will never make it.
It's a crap cup, but it does expose the limitations of our squad. And seeing Liverpool and City go further than us is never a nice thing.
Actually the league cup was probably our only real hope of a trophy this season, slim chance with the F.A cup i suppose. After loosing 6-1 at home to City my belief in us winning the league have somewhat dwindled, and as for the champions league, not a hope in hell.
well there you go, man utd have now lost 3 matches to 3 of the all time great league clubs, man city, crystal palace and wait for it, i give you shrewsbury town fc. i do hope your season improves
It's not just the loss. It's the way you're performing across the board that should be your worry. Poor in the CL, dropping points in the PL. Something's not right.
We've dropped nine points from 13 games in the PL. The only PL seasons in which we dropped fewer points at this stage were 93/94, 03/04 and 06/07. If it wasn't for City running away with it at this stage, the only people worried about our PL form would be the other clubs hoping to challenge for the title.
Fergie should reset the tactics now really , We are going to s*** if this current form goes on , We lost to Crystal Palace , shameful indeed , 2-1 palace innit ?? When Cleverley comes , I bet he's gonna give three goals in the first half . Mickey Mouse cup ????? damn hilarious Rick
I was cheering for Havent when they came to anfield and had the cheek to take the lead Fkn love giant killers in the cups. It is what makes teh cup worth watching! Fanfkingtastic even if it is Liverpool losing to Barnsley United certainly expected a stroll, Palace not scored in 5 in their own league, sure they thought it would be easier, cups eh.
