Anyway, back to the subject at hand now the smell has gone. Don't believe we want CMS anymore, so obviously I think the story is rubbish. Its probably just the agent trying to drum up some business.
West Ham will struggle with Allardyce, Mackail-Smith would be better going to Norwich and working with a better manager and playing in the PL.
Latest update in the CMS saga (according to the skysports website) is that Peterborough have accepted a bid from Leicester, rejected a bid from West Ham and CMS turned down moves to QPR & Norwich (maybe he didn't fancy being the 5th, 6th, or 7th striker!)
I think we are best off out of it - can see him being an expensive mistake for someone - let him bag his 11 or 12 goals for leicester or west ham next year - we can do better...
Whilst not devastated over the fact the CMS isn't coming to us, I think he would have been a good squad addition because within our ranks we are very likely to need at least one of our strikers to achieve a 15-20 goal haul - so, the more choice we have the more chance we have. That he appears to weighing up either Leicester or West Ham (Barry Fry bulls**t accepted) says two things: - Despite his stated desire to play in the Premiership, when push comes to shove it was all about the money for CMS (fair enough but perhaps he should take more attention to what happened to Brett Pitman) - We won't know if he could have made it in the Prem, so I guess we won't know what we 'could have won' (Jim Bowen, other ex gameshow hosts are available)
Heard on Radio Norfolk this morning, CMS did not turn Norwich down as Barry Fry claims, but according to David McNally's Twitter site, Norwich lost interest in CMS back in "March!" City must have realised back then, there were better players out there and pursued them instead.
How good is it to have Mcnally at the club, if something is B.S he will come out and let the fans know it is. Plus the fact he has an assist to his name. Everything at the club seems to be coming together really nicely!
Lets face it, the offer we put in back in March is quite clearly the best offer they had for CMS. Barry Fry obviously thought he could get more money for him and couldn't which is why he's been banging on about x amount of clubs interested in him and having offers from Premier league clubs. They got greedy and now they've shot themselves in the foot and probably aren't going to get much more for him than we offered nearly four months ago
Hacker, theres only 2 strikers weve tried to sign since the end of last season, and weve got them both! We havent missed out yet on a target of ours and hope for that to continue though i expect it wont...
The most annoying thing about this whole episode is that I used to like Barry Fry, he's a very funny guy, but I can never look on him in the same light again.
I see that Fry is stirring the **** again. This time about QPR. He really has gone down in my estimation. He should have taken our original offer, but got greedy, and now it seems CMS might not be going anywhere. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13974564.stm
